Where is the fun in that?

It also makes the job of law enforcement willing to violate the Virginia and US constitutions all the easier. Who easier and more poignant to make an example of than the people in this thread?

This thread hurts my head.

The amount of cuckery of people wanting to keep receipts of pmags and all their gun parts is shameful.  You can literally just drive 20 minutes into WV, buy a bunch of mags, pay cash, and import them into VA.  No one gives a fuck. No VSP is gonna kick in your door looking for proof of purchase post July 1.  It's the most retarded law ever made.

Same thing with this retardedness of "manufacturing" a "assault firearm".  Just own lowers, assemble shit later. That gun violence office that they tried to make failed, so no one is going to be subpoenaing Cabela's or any of the other online retailers of uppers for credit card receipts to customers in Virginia, and then looking for warrants to come into your house to make sure that you're not putting an upper on a lower that is already registered.

Chill the fuck out, stock up on enough for a year or two, and wait for the courts.

Zero. None. Nada.

even now some of those braced pistols are now SBR's after Jan 1 of this year and the stamp went away.  I don't play that game of "you will now register this because we changed our minds". I will never forced - register a single firearm I own. Ever. I am not stupid.

But I did want all my MP5's as SBRs because the spongy stupid thin shoulder braces on them suck, and like three of my 6 or 7 or 10 or how ever many AR's  I have now, are. I have no idea how many lowers I even own these days withotu sitting down to count or looking in my book with all the stuff I have logged, and even that's not up to date because I am lazy.

Mags? AR mags I might have a hundred by now? No idea. I know I have probably 25 or 30 unopened pmags alone. I have a whole ammo crate of G3 mags I bought for a dollar years ago. Who the hell even knows lol

I want to express this AWB has no registration on it. It’s merely for people looking to buy new or sell existing AW which is a two characteristics ban. You don’t need to register your existing AW or magazines.

What you’re saying here is illegal. The AWB says no importing so going across state lines to purchase what is illegal items here is dangerously stupid. While I disagree with the law advising people to do illegal things is stupid since it might cost them the ability to purchase a firearm.

We should be focusing on efforts to repel the law.

I had already decided I didn't need one, then this all happened. Well, if I can't decide I need one later,  then I guess I need one now! Mine arrives this week.

Anyone who wants one, who is eligible for Springfield's "Firstline" program should try to find one of those. I've seen the no-brace version as low as $699, but they sell within minutes of sending the in-stock email. I found one elsewhere for $786, knowing that holding out to save $87 (hah! 87!)I was likely to be a frustrating mistake. I was right. The other place got them in stock again the next day, and by the time I saw the email an hour later, they were gone again. It would have been a never-ending loop, because with every restock,  there's no way I would ever see those emails in time.

While this is correct, I don't trust the dems to stop here.  To me it's inevitable just a matter of how long.  They've never expressed that X amount of infringements is sufficient.  And since we know that none of this will fix whatever problem they're trying to solve, they'll need more "common sense" down the road in return for more soros-bloomberg money.  The lobby jumps from state to state pushing the same bad ideas into the hands of willing democratic sponsors.  The things that are cutting edge in other states will be here soon, now that they have a foothold.

Rhode Island and California seem like the template.  Grandfather -> Register -> Ban.  The RI registration is especially sneaky, where they implied that you'd never be able to prove you met their grandfathering date unless you took advantage of their handy-dandy "certification" scheme.  Then in the next session a full out ban is proposed.

Illinois proposal to serialize ammo.  Conneticut glock ban (it's not a ban, it's grandfathered, they say).  NY still clinging on their requirement to look at your social media accounts for a CWP.

Just wait until Everytown pushes blue states into having their training requirement retroactively added to every CWP, gun owners license, pre purchase approval, etc.

If you can't beat it locally by turning elections then USSC is your only hope and I don't see either as a sure thing.

Hey guys... A quick update regarding the Gun Show at RIR this weekend. Massive insanity isn't the word!!!

I was there at 9:30am - i.e. just 1/2 hour after they opened. Seriously man, on my mother's soul.. the #%@$ line went out the door and almost all the way down the parking lot near the safety vest people guiding you in at the entrance! I saw that, turned around in another lot, and went right the F back home!

I got a text from a buddy who was there later and grew frustrated waiting and waiting in line. He too said "screw it" and went home. Something about ordering it from Palmetto State Armory and paying the shipping cost.

Way to go Spam Burger.... Way to go!!! #1 gun salesman for Virginia!!

I ordered an LMT lower and so far haven’t heard the ready for pickup. I called and they said it might take upwards of a week because of the backlog of things coming in. So if you plan to order don’t wait nearer to the date as they might not transfer in time.

Good luck all.

"Large capacity ammunition feeding device" means a magazine, belt, drum, feed strip, or similar device that has a capacity of, or that can be readily restored or converted to accept, more than 15 rounds of ammunition but does not include an attached tubular device designed to accept and capable of operating only with .22 caliber rimfire ammunition.
B. Any person who imports, sells, barters, transfers, or purchases a large capacity ammunition feeding device is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor.

Detachable .22LR mags will be banned come 7/1 if bill becomes law.

I don’t sense cuckery but rather people educating themselves on applicability of the likely to be implemented law. Plausible deniability is the name of the game.

If you want to buy out-of-state mags, be mindful of date of manufacture markings.

Even aluminum mags (and steel) typically have month-year date codes.
Confirmed for C-Products, Colt, Okay, NHMTG, HK, D&H, Labelle.

SB749 prohibits any transfer of hi-cap mags, even upon your death.

Eventually, the mags must be destroyed, turned over to the SS, or sold out of state.

Stock up now!

You can transfer your mags to a trust before 7/1 and add multiple trustees. I will add all of them to my NFA Trust and the trust will persist after my death.

Thanks for confirming. I did not see that but it makes sense.

I will assign the guns that meet Virginia's bullsh!t AW definition too. The "assignment to trust" is a simple word document that I have signed by a witness and it costs nothing.

How would one identify "magazines" in a trust?

None of them have a serial number.

Would you just list them as: 25- 30 round ar 15 mags of various manufactures?

Or would they have to be given a unique ID number or something?

My trust has an "Assignment of tangible property" near the end, after the schedules.  No identifier necessary, all magazines (and lots of other related property) that I owned previously or will acquire later are transferred to my trust.

Yup, that's my plan. Prob should pose the identifier question to Gilbert Ambler via VCDL. Chances are I'll never need it but it's good CYA and I like that it legally negates the commie's plan to eliminate these things in one generation.

I will admit that I haven’t read all the way through the various bills, but my understanding from talking with a local dealer is that any firearm that can accept a magazine larger than 15 rounds will also be banned. I.e. no more sales of the Ruger 10/22, Glock 17, Glock 17, P365 X MACRO, etc. I’d appreciate it if someone can confirm that. And does a Glock 17 suddenly become an “assault firearm” that can’t be transferred after July 1?

Edit: Like many of these types of regulations, this doesn’t make sense, since most semi-auto pistols can accept a magazine larger than they are designed for. I do recall something in one of the bills about “magazines that extend past the grip” or something like that. I hope that’s not putting all semi-auto pistols at risk.

Another YT lawyer suggested that you can buy magazines for your children since there’s (currently) no age limit on possessing magazines. He recommended ordering them and having them shipped to your kids with their name on the shipping label and leaving them in the box like that. It seems to me that you could just “gift” existing magazines to them, designating them in a labeled box or something. That all seems over the top in trying to comply with this mess. The trust makes much more sense to me.

https://lis.virginia.gov/bill-details/20261/HB217/text/HB217S2

Hit the toggle for “highlight proposed changes,” and everything new will be easy to see.

Your dealer is likely not entirely correct- for rifles, an “assault firearm” is a center fire one that accepts a detachable mag and has one of the cosmetic characteristics that these clowns are afraid of. So a 10/22 should be safe, but a mini 14 with a flash hider or threaded barrel is vulnerable.

For pistols, it must be a center fire, with two of the banned characteristics, and a magazine that extends beyond the grip is not one- but a magazine outside the pistol grip is.

All that being said, don’t to rely on information from strangers on line, but read the bill yourself.

If any lesson can be learned look to that Matt guy with the auto key card. He was encouraged by his viewers and many donated and he made the stand against the atf and his lawyers who all tried to make him take a plea deal that would just be a slap on the wrist. He’s now in prison, no mass riots, nothing from anyone except numerous comments that mean nothing and the NFA that he was saying he’d take down is still in full effect.

His case is a cautionary tale of not following peole on the internet because they’re not your friends. They will not be there for you when you’re down. People on the left are funded by billionaires Soros and Bloomberg who are pushing a narrative. Unless we get backed by some billionaire we have nothing.

The only thing we have is vcdl and hoping they won’t bleed dry from all the money they’ll be spending for the court cases. Bloomberg and Soros know this and is encouraging the states lawyers to fight strong and not worry about the near unlimited money they’ll bring.

Nobody can afford to fight back.

Why are modern Virginians too afraid to use their real names to support our 2A rights?

Did George Washington fight the Revolution behind an avatar?

I'm done hiding what I lawfully purchased. I'm done fearing 'rat 2A grabbers.

I understand anonymity, but at some point,  if you believe in a cause, fight for it.

Philip Van Cleave doesn't hide, and doesn't cower. He's been a stalwart for decades.

Why are we descendants of Patrick Henry such cowards?

The Federalist Papers were published under the name "Publius."

On that subject, note that in #47, Madison provides "the definition of tyranny:

"The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, selfappointed, or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny."

Huh. All powers held by the same hands is tyranny. So...if the governor, legislature and judiciary are all of the same lot...

...and then they further proposed to make a state's delegation to the U.S. House of Representatives also almost entirely their people...

...such that hundreds of thousands of people would be effectively taxed and oppressed without representation...what's a Virginian to do? I feel like I've seen some artwork somewhere about that. I think it was on a flag.

Yeah but you do understand we’re legally criminals now simply by the stroke of a pen to make it legal. The fact is the far left is taking over the country by making themselves perfectly legal to do so. The only way to stop it is either we accept it or fight back by force or threat. If 500k armed people showed up in Richmond right today believe me they would think twice about signing that AWB. But for some reason it is not and I don’t get what happened to Virginians between the first time and now? I never understood the “I have mine” mentality. One day by the stroke of a pen it won’t be yours anymore.

I attended a Constitutional militia meeting in Fred. Co. (VA) the other day.  Seems that might be the best way to go.  Members follow the Constitution and support each other.  Emphasis is on community service and support with the implied understanding of what is coming down the pike...

@Glarus

Yes, I thought of that.

I'm still trying to figure out why FF's used pen names regarding the post-Revolution,
versus real names on the Declaration of Independence.

All I can think of was that during the Revolution, the enemy originated
an ocean away. During our pre-Constitution phase, they were surrounded
by immediate neighbors that might violently disagree.

Just a thought. What do you think?

How Does Virginia’s Proposed ‘Assault Weapons Ban’ Affect Stripped Lowers
View Quote

One of the most common questions I have been fielding over the last few days is how stripped lowers will be impacted by SB749, the ban on modern sporting rifles (or so-called ‘Assault Weapons‘ using the made-up term from the bill).

I have heard a number of people say that they are buying a large number of stripped lowers before the effective date of the bill (July 1, 2026) so that the resulting firearms will benefit from the grandfathering clause.

However, only firearms that are assault firearms as of this date will be grandfathered and manufacturing new assault firearms will be prohibited as will modifying existing firearms to have the characteristics of an assault firearm.

Therefore, the question is whether a stripped lower is, in and of itself, an assault firearm under the law.  For a detailed analysis of whether a given firearm is considered an ‘assault weapon’ under SB749, I have prepared a detailed flowchart.

Without further characteristics added to the stripped lower, I believe that a stripped lower is not an assault firearm under the definition provided in the bill since it is an ‘other’ rather than a rifle or a pistol until manufactured or modified into a completed configuration.

And I use the term ‘modified’ here because under the bill, a firearm becomes an assault firearm if it “has been modified to be operable as an assault firearm as described” and thereby prohibited if done after July 1, 2026.

Having said all of that, in order to benefit from grandfathering, I am advising clients to configure their stripped lowers into a configuration that is an assault firearm under the definition and document it as such prior to July 1, 2026.

And when doing so, one should remember the ATF rule regarding the limitations on changing the designation of a firearm made from a stripped lower.  That rule is “Once a rifle, always a rifle, unless it started life as a pistol.”

This all seems rather obvious.

If you are anxiety ridden over 100% compliance, just slap a pistol grip on every lower and insert the pins to attach an upper before 1 July and you've complied.

You can make changes to your grandfathered "assault weapon" after 1 July.  There is no prohibition on buying, possessing, or importing parts.

If you own a lower before 1 July, the state would have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt you didn't do the above and assembled everything on a bare receiver after 1 July to convict you of illegal possession. Unless you admit it, that seems nearly impossible.

It's a sure bet the AWB will be signed into the week. But keep in mind next year the session is during an odd year so it will be a shorter session in the GA. My thought is that next year they will amend this bill to include the word "possession" which would effectively remove the grandfathering of it.

I know it's going to be a tough fight but just pay attention next January because they're coming to get your guns. It'll be a shorter session so they're hoping we won't assemble or have time to react. I'm not sure anyone in VA even gives a shit given how no one came to vote last time but hopefully this time it'll create some noise.

It is quite obvious but many are not aware. The aim is to educate, but each man has to choose his own path forward.

They WILL tighten the screws even more.

Plan for parts restrictions, especially for barrels and bolts.

All your stripped lowers will be paper weights.

Tavor or Steyr? Should I consider Hellion?

Yes, I'm considering prices.

The answer is BOTH plus mags. Come 7/1 neither will be an option.
