Must have been a long time ago, but shopping for a couple of cans for toys, and living in FFX, knowing the tricks like where to go in what order, and processing times would be awesome.

ETA: I know about this: https://www.ar15.com/content/page.html?id=17 - I just was wondering there was something more in-depth somewhere.

under the new rules as of last year, there IS NO sign off. You only need to send notification.

Sign off no longer exists per federal regulation (41(f)?).

You are only required to send "notification" to local CLEO. They no longer have any say in the matter whatsoever.

And - the reg change effectively eliminated almost all the advantages of going the "trust route." Mostly not worth it anymore unless you are worried about passing items down to relatives after you die.

Exactly. We send everything to the Superintendent of VSP. For passing down NFA firearms, fill out an ATF Form 5 and have it with your will.
