Our FFL is being upgraded to a Class 3 and when it is approved we will start offering Silencers and SBR's, initially we will offer Surefire however I am looking for suggestions that meet the following criteria;

Quality Manufacturing process

 Affordable price point

 Excellent reputation

 Excellent Customer service

If you have any suggestions or recommendations for us to consider we would love to hear them

silencerco

Octane 9 series are outstanding cans for the money.  Additionally, the Sparrow/Warlock/Spectre .22 cans are equally good.

Silencerco.  Specwar 556 & 762 are great models.  And I'm in the market for a rimfire - no specific vendor in mind.

SilencerCo and sure fire are safe bets.

The new Sig cans will be backed up by Sig USA.  And they are paying attention to price on these.

I own an AAC and it is very high quality; their ownership by Remington means they will be around a long time and backed by Remington customer service.  My old can happens to use the old 18T mount which is a PITA.  Their cans are medium to high end price wise (not as much as the Nights cans).

Probably the highest quality precision long range can (IMHO) is made by TBAC.  Not cheap though.

I'd avoid Huntertown Arms for a lot of reasons.

I would recommend the whole Silencerco line. They have some of the best cans in the business.

Has anyone EVER said something nice about those guys?  I'd avoid them like the plague.  I'd rather spend an extra $25 for a SiCo Warlock II.

Affordable price point would be nearly everything in comparison to surefire.

Congratulations on the upgrade, I hope I can make it to one of your stores sometime.

Your post also mentions SBRs.

I'm not sure how many companies offer factory SBRs to civilian dealers; I thought Sig did at one time, but I just checked the website and could not locate them.

Making SBRs for sale might require a different level FFL/SOT.  I'm no expert.

You might consider selling AOW super-short shotguns like the Serbu Super shorty.  If they are made that way at the factory, the transfer tax is only $5 to the customer.  I bet those would sell.

I'll echo SilencerCo, I have a Sparrow and a Spectre; quality construction and a decent price point.  I also have a SOCOM 556RC that I like.

I'd wait and see on AAC.  They've been assimilated by the Freedom Group which seems to be nickel and diming away the quality of the companies they've bought.  People keep saying that the Remingtons and Marlins that are being made now aren't the same quality as those that were made before the Freedom Group bought the companies.  May want to see what happens to the quality of AAC's stuff once they're up and running again in Alabama and cranking out product.

Myself and many others who have "Damn the Man" credits to use are frustrated with AAC right now because there's nothing in stock worth buying.

I did not know that.  And I agree with you it would be a smart move; there are a lot guys intersted in building SPR clones, and on one generation of that gun, the Ops Inc reflex can was the only option.

I bet you would pull in buyers from all over Virginia.

This is awesome!

I second Colt SBRs.

Although some would consider it less affordable, a KAC option would be awesome (suppressors and SBRs).

LMT SBRs.

I guess the way I typed this was misleading. The guy that built the suppressors left Ops Inc and started his own company, Allen Engineering.

Do it! i would be down for a semi dedicated can for one gun. Checking out the price point they aren't bad and have a good track record from what I understand.

On the SBR angle look at some of the other makers as well like Stag or WW they offer factory SBR's. Maybe a good option for some if they don't care about a roll mark and just care about function and OAL.

I agree with the comments that are hesitant on ACC. As some have said, Silencerco is gtg and I would look that direction as an addition to surefire.

This is just my consumer feedback to QT.  As someone finishing an MBA, I can appreciate your market research.
I know very little other than reading on this site and vender sites about suppressor.  I want one and I have money to spend.  I do not like the idea of "get a legalxoom trust, bring me $1000 and wait to see what I can find"  It would great to be able to compare some of them side by side and most importantly see their noise reduction demonstrated so I can make an informed decision .

FWIW, I have gone to two stores money in hand to get a suppressor and left more confused than when I walked in and these were the go to ships in my area.  While I appreciate this forums "buy this and don't look back" mentality a suppressor is a significant investment and I want what is best for my needs.

I think if could get a warm and fuzzy about the suppressor I want/meets my needs, I would go ahead and do the trust, and get an SBR host and a suppressor.

You guys like to have cookouts, host a suppressor shoot / clinic FOR INTERESTED BUYERS.  I would come up from Va Beach for this and even pay a reasonable amount to attend.
1) Have some way of demonstrating suppressors and show what you are getting for the money.
2) Side by side comparisons on different pistols, carbines and rifles.
3) Have the trust lawyer there.
(My perceived needs...HD tool primarily, dedicated platform (5.56 AR), noise reduction to a safe level shooting indoors, long life (how long do they last?),  removable, easy to maintain, lifetime warranty, support if (when) I want to suppress something else...).
My 2 cents.
Thanks

Hey QT:  here is what a gun store in Minn is doing for "suppressor day"

http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_8_28/583316_Suppressor_and_Customer_Appreciation_Day_At_Element_Arms_July_11th.html

I agree with bmyk.  I think a key to your success is to have a lawyer or notary there to create customers trusts on the spot.  There are plenty of outfits selling specific gun trusts for something like $75 (Palmetto comes to mind).

If a guy can do the whole process after hearing a certain can, I think you might get a lot of buyers.

Individual route is still not that bad depending on where in the state you live.  I'm getting my forms signed by the Fairfax county sheriff and back to me within 96 of drop off to back in my mailbox.

$15 for the first one plus $2 state fee.  I believe it's $5 for each additional.

We charge $15 for the first firearm. Then on any firearm you have transferred to our store with in a week it is $5 for each additional firearm.  There is a $2 background check fee from the state each time we have to run your background for separate firearm transactions.

I was just up there Monday buying some AR15 lower receivers.

Nice store, nice folks.  Helpful and great to talk to while you're looking for other stuff to go with the receivers.

I'll be making another trip up there before long.

Now, if there was just someway to avoid the silly drivers on I95......  Sitting in traffic if just wrong, especially with 4 lanes available to drive on.  Stopped, 15 mph, 25 mph, holy cow they're runnin' off and leavin' me, now were doing 65 mph, uh oh, brake lights, back to 15 mph, then dead stopped again.  Then we repeat, and repeat, and repeat.

Tried Rt.1 but enough folks were getting off I95 to try out Rt. 1 that is was no better.  Just when I think I'm safe and get back to Richmond, the traffic stops again, accident near the Boulevard exit.

I've gotta get me a crystal ball for traffic so I can figure out which days to stay off I95.

Seriously though, nice store.  All kinds of gear, clothes, accessories, and guns/gun parts.  Oh yeah, ammo, too.  Boxes of it sitting in the floor.

Thanks for the Post.  Sorry I can not do anything about the traffic.  the summer does seem to be bad every day all day each way.  Does not make sense, doesn't anyone work in this town?  Look if you can bear through the traffic we have a great sale going on now through Sunday in celebration of the 4th.  We are closed on Saturday, however.

I stopped in today; didn't get anything though (which is not typical, y'all usually get 1/5 of my pay).. Where are all the 500 parts and/or 1911 parts?? We're not all cops who shop in your store, you know?..

I'm interested to hear about it if you do decide to get a trust lawyer involved.. The only reason I've stayed out of NFA so far is my lack of a trust. If you can make it a "one-stop-shop" then I may reconsider.

Had my eye on an AAC Ti-Rant 45 for a while, by the way.

Don't forget those who buy quality at whatever the price point. So I have some advice to cover NFA sales, and Demo Days.
1. Hold a meeting with NFA Lawyer (all employees attend) This will educate sales people in all things NFA, for Demo and prepare them for questions throughout the years to come.
2. Have Lawyer on hand during Demo Days, work out a deal if possible, for signing up trust.
3. My Lawyer recommendation would be here on this forum, "dbrowne1"
4. Silencers: take a look at OSS-Mission, they have redesigned the silencer,
5. SBR: offer piston operated AR's ,in the piston arena the clear winner here would be LWRCI. American made, best design, good customer service, thier R&D department is top notch. (HK guys get over it, HK has awesome weapons, but face the facts, they get second place on this one)

Number one is the biggie. As previously stated customers walk out with cash in hand all because the salesman knows little to nothing about what I'm looking for. Spend the time and resources to train and educate your staff.

my 02, good luck
