Who rides in VA? I had a great day Sunday, Berryville to Williamsburg & back.
Left at 7:00 AM, got back at 7:00 PM. I spent a great afternoon with my daughter at W&M, and put 450 miles on the bike and 9 hours in the saddle driving on some great back roads. It rained until I hit Fredericksburg, but I was dressed well so no big. I will have better boots or a second pair of socks and a neck gater on my next long fall ride. I don't see how some guys do the Iron Butt events. I'm 50 and feel fine, but was looking forward to being home at around 350 miles. The section of 211 between Sperryville and Luray was AWESOME!!!! You need to ride it. I'll try to put my track online, but the short story was Going Down: Berryville Rt. 340 South to Rt. 255 Rt. 255 South through Millwood to Rt. 50 East Rt. 50 East to Rt. 17 by Sky Meadows Park Rt. 17 South past Fredricksburg, a zig on Rt. 3 then turn onto Rt. 2 Rt. 2 / 301 South to Rt. 30 through West Point to Rt. 64 Rt. 64 to Williamsburg Back Pretty much the reverse until Rt. 3 south of Fredericksburg. Took Rt. 3 to Culpeper Rt. 522 North to Sperryville 211 West to Luray (Shenandoah National Park) 340 to Berryville |

Sounds like a great ride!
I started rebuilding cycle seats myself 18 years ago because I couldn't find a seat shop worth adman to do the work for me. The key is finding firm enough foam to support you. Car guys use foam suitable for sofas. Most have no idea what a bike seat needs. You can resculpt it yourself for better comfort and then have a upholstery shop cover it for you. I've spent my adult life enjoying Virginia's byways on bikes and sidecars. |

I just got my first bike back in the spring, and I love it. Haven't made any big trips but had some good rides on poker runs and up to Paint Bank from the NRV. Trouble now is weekend riding is interfering with deer season! |
| I've been riding VA roads for 40 years. I missed the beautiful riding weather we had late this summer with an OTJ injury and surgeries to my knee. I have been grounded since 29 July with another 4-6 weeks to go.... I bet the battery is probably way down on my bike... |
