What are the odds of the rain coming at 1AM to turn this all into a nice glaze of ice? It's staying below freezing. According to the forecasts I have been seeing here in NoVa, that is exactly what will be happening. If it does, I guess my wife won't be going to work tomorrow. Or, if she does, she'll never make it back up our driveway.
I'm hoping that the temp will rise, and starting tomorrow AM it will be regular rain that will wash all this ice shit away. |

I believe even if the govt closes, you then have to telework. No more days of "closed." Quoted:

Not everyone else is in this boat but as a fed, I don't mind free leave/ice days. I believe even if the govt closes, you then have to telework. No more days of "closed." It just depends. Sometimes we'll close and be given "admin days." There are no absolutes. |

No snow accumulation, but very icy down here in Ruckersville. Like DK, I'm hoping it warms up and melts off tomorrow - I loaned my 4WD Tacoma to a friend earlier this week and the '68 mustang in the garage is not very ice-friendly. I can easily telework though, so that's a plus. |

Just drove home on Fairfax County Parkway through Reston/Herndon. They're behind in plowing. That's a major thoroughfare. If that doesn't improve the whole commute will be crap tomorrow! Good to know. Haven't left the house all day here in Haymarket.
Already let work know I'll be teleworking tomorrow. Hope it doesn't get too warm too fast tomorrow so I actually get some time to go sledding with the kids. |
Lost power about an hour and a half ago, when a transformer loudly blew nearby.
We got about an inch and a half of snow, and another half of ice covering everything on top of that. The trees look beautiful, but obviously not so useful in terms of downed branches. Running on the generator right now. At least the wireless network in the house is working fine. ETA: Power's back on. Was barely even worth getting the generator out. If I had known it would only be a couple of hours I would just have stayed under the covers in bed. |

Fredericksburg we just had a bunch of sleet and then freezing rain.
This morning the trees and such were covered in ice (lost some branches) but the roads and such were just wet. Yesterday we just made a fire in the fireplace and did Christmas decorating all day. |

Sunday we got about 7-8" in woodstock. 1/4" of ice on top. Right now we have about 2" on the ground, Its still coming down heavy right now. Work is closed. Be safe guys. I'm jealous!. Hopefully people hear "Government Offices are closed" on the radio and assume my work is closed as well. I feel like reading Arfcom all day. |
