Hey guys,
I did a Carbine Course a year or so ago with the TNHTF guys, taught by Ronin Strategies. We all loved it and the instruction was great. Anyway, I was talking to the guys from Ronin about their time on the show Trigger Time and then the discussion turned to the possibility of getting them to come up here to VA and offer a course. Actually, they have been considering the road trip and have some locations in mind - if there was enough interest. I'm not so much trying to canvass for commitments as I am asking what all yall are interested in getting out of a course. Any thoughts or questions would be appreciated. Thanks, John |

I think a general idea of considered locations within the state, length and type of course, and rough idea of cost would be helpful. Definitely, I'll ask them when I get a chance, they should have something already written up on it. From what I remember, it was a 2 day course, primarily close quarters drills including a lot of transitioning to pistol. They even had a fun steel round robin tournament, two shooters at a time, around 200 yards. Expect some info tonight. |

Due to ammo cost, I think you will get more people to sign up the lower you keep your round count. I just finished a week long CSAT course. It was a relatively low round count by using dry fire and movement exercises. I did not really even notice that I wasn't shooting that much b/c of all the dry fire exercises. In my perspective the lack of rounds fired did NOT negatively affect the training b/c I treated every dry fire as if it were a real shot.
This DID improve my shot process by the end of the week. Although I felt it was fine, I did hear one guy mention that he wished we "live fired" more, so of course YMMV. I will keep my eyes on your course development, I am always interested in local training. |

Hey all, this was from the guys at Ronin: "2 Day Course $350 We can do pistol, rifle, or a combo Range 82, Peacemaker, NRA, Echo Valley would all be options. Round count is up to the shooter...we can tailor classes from 300 to 1,000 rounds." Where abouts are these locations? I'm not familiar with any of them. |

I'll try to get some more details when I get a chance. Also, I remember them offering some low round count courses last Jan-Feb or so when everything was $$$ and OOS |
| I'd like to go; better possibility in late spring or early summer. I'd like to to do a 1 long day CQB carbine, or a 2 day pistol/carbine class. Ammo count? Don't care; I have plenty now. Heck, even a pistol/shotty class would be cool. Anything SE of Charlolettesville or E of Danville would be fine. Extra time w/ medical would be great- I missed a class in N. Va earlier, and still haven't figured out a place to stash my kit. Paper is fine, steel is better to shoot at. Clay pigeons too! Night shoot would be fun. |

I would be interested depending on specifics and I could probably get a couple other guys in as well. Would this class suitable for relative newbies? I've taken a couple 3-4 hour classes, but not anything like a 2-day tactical course. Yes, when we took the one a year or so ago, a couple of us had done some multi-guns, a few others nothing more than range time with the ARs |
| Would love to do this as well but it would have to be in the NoVa area. Many of these classes are in Culpepper and beyond which is just too far for me and adds too much time to the day. Ammo count low to medium would be best as well as I am just really looking for the tactics and mechanics of movement than the actual shooting. |
| Keep them coming guys. It looks like there might be enough to break it up into two different classes by region of VA (if they are interested and the logistics work out). Ronin indicated that the minimum for each class is 8-10. When I get a chance, I'll break up into lists all the users in here based on location. |

You have to drive to get to a good range for a class. Fact of life in NoVA. |

Fact of life in NoVA. +1 A lot of the guys in TN that did the Ronin course, got a decent, cheap hotel for Friday and Sat night, good times to hang out with new friends. An event, one weekend a year, esp where you get to do/learn things that you won't where you are from is worth that kind of expense if you ask me. Hell, I drove 10 hours each way for an ARFCOM group shoot a couple months ago, because they had 1k+ yard ranges, a 50 BMG, and shooting at night with NVGs and IR |
| I'd be in for 1-2 days. Round count does not matter. Will it be full kit, plate carrier, or std attire? Would like to do some full kit/plate carrier stuff. Have not done that since lived in Las Vegas. Drive 1-3 hrs depending on site. Could carpool to save money. Have an 2001 Expedition ( the big one) that can handle 4 and gear. |

The Ronin one I went to before was a mix. A few LEOs wore their armor rigs. Others wore everything from plain MOLLE vests to Eagle belts with harnesses. MAYBE one or two had just an OWB holster and like two kydex AR mag carriers. This time around I will be wearing my TAG vest and plates. |

I have several friends interested in a class, and who cares about round count?? That just stupid..if you cant afford the ammo or gas in your car than dont take a class. The more shooting the better the class. Thats like taking a driving class and not wanting to drive the car because the gas it to expensive. I am interested when you get more info. |
