I am looking into having my windows replaced in my house. Looking for good windows as this is my house for the next 20 years. Looking for composite/vinyl type windows. I have already had three quotes from the following companies-
1-Anderson - Nice but very high priced 2-Pella - OK but their quote was a lot higher then I thought it would be, not much cheaper then Anderson 3-Thompson Creek - They are what they are. Did not care for the sales pitch but knew this going in. Written quote was much higher then verbal quote given. Going to see if the verbal quote is still good when I call Monday. Can anybody recommend any other window companies in the NOVA area you have had good personal dealings with and would use again? Has anybody personally used any of the above listed 3? Any issues? Thanks |
| We had our whole house redone with Vinyl Lite windows. It was supposed to be two guys doing it in one day but ended up being one guy for two days. The first day he was there until 10 at night and we finally had to tell him to go home. We had water leaking in two of the windows from Hurricane Sandy. We took pictures of where the water came in and the damage that it caused and everybody there said it was"impossible" for water to leak in there. Got tossed around to several different people all of which were rude. Other than that they seem to be installed well and super easy to maintain. |

Windows Plus in Fairfax.
Used them several years ago. They installed Gorrell armored glass with a lifetime warranty for the price others wanted for plain glass. About a year after they installed the windows my boys ended up putting their bunk bed ladder into their window. It cracked but didn't shatter. I called WP up, they pulled up my file on the computer and were out within a week replacing the window. |

Just on principle I refuse to buy anything that Chris Core endorses (which he does a lot of, Thompson Creek being one of them). I hate that smug douchenozzle. Rant out of the way. Have you considered doing them yourself? I've never done it but I'm planning to within the next year or so as my house was built in 83 and the windows suck. |

I do a lot of work on my house myself but I know my limits. I would not even try to do the windows myself. If I was a builder/contractor then it would be different. |
