I'm moving up this Sunday to Springfield temporarily while I wait till my family comes up in the summer. As it stands we'll probably look at Stafford (thanks to talks to a few VA HTF guys) and others recommending the area. I wish I could afford Fairfax County but reality is what it is, even with my increase in salary. I'll be working around Ft. Belvior as a contractor and looking forward to living in Old Dominion... until reality hits in about winter. The kids will love it but I'm a deep Southerner who grew up on the beach so the snow and anything below 60 is freezing to me.
Any how. Howdy. I drink beer, whiskey, and the wife makes handmade tortillas and bakes. We're looking to travel a bit when we get out there so I can see my kin up in Brunswick, MD and take the Harley for long rides in the mountains. Not a gun snob building a 300BLK SBR slowly but surely over the next year. |

Welcome to NOVA.
Since you are from Georgia, thought I'd let you know Braves are playing the Relocated-Expos 12-14 APR. Since you live in Springfield you can metro to the game (Navy Yard stop on the Green Line) so you don't have to worry about traffic, parking, etc.... I advise you ride metro before then just to get a feel for it though. |

I'm already trying to find a way to skip my second week of work to take a game in Speaking of, do the Nationals do anything fancy on Fridays or Sundays? Down here the Braves had fireworks on Fridays and kids ran the bases on Sunday |

Down here the Braves had fireworks on Fridays and kids ran the bases on Sunday I was deployed last year so I only got to go to 4 games in DC but I do believe I remember a concert after one of the games (O.A.R. I think). It happens, just not regularly like at The Ted. Monthly or so they have a take your do to the park day, or at least in 2011 they did. Overall, baseball games in DC are a pretty good time, not enough to make me root for them, but it's still a good way to spend a Sat or Sun afternoon especially while you live close enough to a Metro stop. Even from Stafford it is an easy drive. I'll IM you some more details. My fiancee and I will be in ATL next Sunday to see the Braves and Cubs then will be watching the Braves the following Sunday up here. |
