Let's say you had a bunch of a very high demand product that you were taking with you to the Salem, VA gun show. Let's say you have a policy of only charging MSRP ($12.98) for those items, limit 10 per customer. Let's say that you are concerned that dealers at the show will send their lackeys over, buy ten at a time and put them out on their tables for $30-$40/ea. What would you do? What do you think is fair and equitable for all? Would you:

Number 2, but take some of your QT tape and wrap the plastic bag in it. That way if the other dealers buy your mags and attempt to resell them, they can no longer be NIW. And they can't just buy them and throw them down on the table. And I'd suggest eyeballing the other dealers to make sure to know who's who. Or... you could just give me all the mags for safe keeping... |

Also, new shipment on the 4th (Potomac mills)? had to work today and them boys are quick!

Whichever option you choose, I say you should definitely mark the packaging with QT tape or other labelling, making it clear they are yours. |

If it's a dealer's lackey, the tape makes it pretty obvious what they are doing. This is assuming whatever take you guys have doesn't peel off of the plastic really easily. If it does even something like writing QT in sharpie on the plastic would work. |

If you look at GB they are selling in open auctions - as in, the market is setting the price - for $75-80 per mag. You could sell at $53 per unit out the door (price $50 plus VA sales tax) and the scalpers would still buy them to flip, though probably not at the show.
If you don't want the mags flipped at the show, then don't even take them to the show. The buyer can place the order, you get their name and address, and ship them later this week in a USPS regional rate box. Set the price at $20 per mag "out the door" so it would include VA state tax, shipping, etc. with a minimum order of 5 to make it worth the hassle, and a max number of mags of whatever you care to set so no one person gets too many. |
| tape, and limit 5. REAL buyers will be happy to get 5 mags at MSRP and a little tape will not upset them. If you a higher price after the first 5, people might remember that QT was selling them for XX.XX and was crazy price, especially if the customer is a casual one brought into the market now after the news reports. but its your product and you can set price, but i do see the heavy buyers remembering who did what during the 08 scare. |

We sold PMAGs at MSRP ($12.98/ea), limit three. If someone bought $50 worth of other stuff, then they could buy five. I thought it was very fair, we had a line and rang people non-stop for the first six hours of the show. We have ~200 left for tomorrow That being said, I could have sold all of them at once for several dealers before they show started for $20/ea. I chose not to. Edit to Say: Everyone was very respectful. I didn't have the problem with people -- to include dealers -- coming back through the line multiple times. Quoted: So what did you all end up doing? And how did the show go? |
