If any of you hear of a good strong safe give me a heads up please. I'm not looking for a 12ga or such cabinet.

Thanks,

I got a Liberty Centurion from Gander Mtn.  They have a pretty good variety there to look at.

Ok, not finding much in used safes. Other than Gander who in VA has a decent selection?

There are always a couple of safe vendors that show up at the Chantilly gun show.  Can't recall either of their names right now, but they offer some good product.

There are a number of good safes on craigslist if you look in the DC area listings.  Might have to pay a little extra for delivery, but could pay off.

Check costco if you are a member.  I got mine there.  Honeywell such and such for $400 or so a few years back. Not a LIberty but better than Stackon. I see them in there every now and then.

If you have a way to haul it, Drake Safes is made close to me and is pretty reasonable for the top end quality.  They do almost no advertizing, but I have been told you can get good prices on them if you pick-up as opposed to getting it from somewhere that is trying to make a profit after having it shipped.

Safes are like 1/4 inch plate IIRCare like 10 minutes across the VA/NC border.  If you had a truck a trailer could haul it easy enough.  Even my small 4x8 could haul the 1500lbs one.

ETA:  Found the link the the ARF thread on them

Liberty Dealer Locator

When I bought my Liberty safe i found a dealer who had blemished safes for hundreds less than original price.  Most you couldn't tell were blemished.  They might have a scratch or some other paint blemish but were go to go.  Look around for one like that.  And the safes were still covered by the full factory warranty.

Give Steve (Steve's Services) a call (703-573-4394).  He is the Ft. Knox dealer for the area.  I bought my safe from him and he is a great guy to do business with.  He will deliver just about anywhere.

They usually also have a "scratch and dent" selection with minor flaws at decent discounts.
