When you see a car with it's flashers on and someone waving a flashlight towards you, SLOW THE FUCK DOWN.

On the way to work this morning an Explorer had tagged a deer. Nice 9 point  The deer was still in the road and the lady had pulled her vehicle over to the opposite side of the road 50 yards further.

I pulled up and checked on her, she's fine but shaken.  Front end was toast and trans cooler leaking all over.  Surprised that the radiator didn't blow as bent as it was and no airbag deployment. So as I have her call the non-emergency line and while waiting for her husband to arrive all of these idiots coming hauling ass down the street.  (Drainsville just before Rt 7) I tried to slow them down for the debris and carcass and keep the light moving up and down and then to the deer.  After a few minutes of several dumbshits, I just went and pulled the deer off the road.  Maybe some of the speed freaks will have gotten a puncture in their tires from the debris. Only a few of the cars actually slowed down and proceeded cautiously.

I need to put a saw in the truck....  Meat was a total wash, not even worth trying to get any backstraps.

Flares will get their attention more, flashlights - I don't think they even pay any attention to them.

Hell, when I was running calls w/ Sterling, I can't recall the number of times when people didn't seem
to see the big red firetrucks with the flashing colored lights on them, until they almost slammed into
them. (There's a reason we'll park a truck sideways abt 15-20 yards into the traffic flow.)

Well, to try and give our personnel a barrier from idiot drivers...

Had a flat tire Monday going to work, got the car off the road but it was still nerve-racking changing the tire in the dark.

Oh yeah, BTW, make sure ALL your vehicles have a working flashing in them.

Might as well had my eyes shut the whole time.

People who don't slow down for obvious caution situations, just another example of drivers who think their cars are just an extension of their lazy boy in the living room.

Everyone should keep a working flashlight on their person at all times!

I'm pretty sure that the VSP give flares out for free. So would a fire station and I think most small service stations... Need to pick me up a few myself!

I have three flashlights in the truck. My main one is 130 lumen and then a three d cell maglight plus another elcheapo d cell that came with the emergency kit.
