| I'll be in Fredricskburg for a while for work and am just looking to see if there is anything that is a must do and or see while i am down here. Any good shops that are worth checking out? Anything else interesting? Let me know please and thank you in advance. |

The great thing about the Commonwealth of Virginia is the history. I love it here.
The great thing about Fred-vegas, is the central location. You have battlefields everywhere. See them. Then drive up to Manassass. The drive down to the battlefields around Richmond. Then see the museums. The Marines have one up at Quantico. Then head up to Dulles and see the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum. And in your travels if you see a sign for a winery, stop in. There are some great ones, some very good ones, and some OK ones. But just about in everyone you're bound to find a wine you find drinkable. |
| Check out Corkys downtown. It's an odd mix of hippy BS and surplus stuff. If you see a guy with little oval glasses, thats Graham (Corky). They have some really cool stuff from time to time. If you play guitar check out Pickers Supply across the street from Corkys. Theres a ton of antique stores downtown and you can find militaria sometimes in them. Honestly, start on Caroline Street and just walk and check out the stores. James Madison's museum and law office is 2 streets up. Kenmore is a neat museum as well ad Hugh Mercer's Apothecary (sp?).The Rising Sun Tavern Museum on Caroline is supposedly where the Continental Army was founded. If you're in the mood to check out historic stuff go into the visitor's center and get a map. Theres a few stores on Caroline which carry Revolutionary and Civil War arms and theres a cool store by Marye's Heights that has several Civil War era rifles and a huge diorama of historic battles. Then go to the Capitol Ale House when youre done. |

We do our full class schedule at the Bass Pro Shops in Ashland, not too far away.
Check out our website if you are interested in some training while you are here. Jim www.ProactiveShooters.com |

National Museum of the Marine Corps is up Rte 1 or I-95 a few miles. A must-see in my book. And may I add that admission is free, the museum is open from 0900 to 1700 7 days a week, only closed on Christmas. They have a fine new interactive display featuring the attack on Belleau Wood. |

Clark Brothers gun shop in Warrenton is fun to look around in. Prices have always been kinda high, but it's a cool place to visit. A real old timey gun shop. Greentop in Ashland has a ton of guns (probably the biggest inventory around here) and fishing stuff.
There is a Bass Pro Shop down the road from Greentop as well. Another shop is in Culpeper called Grey Ghost Tactical. Not a huge shop, but a fair amount of black rifle stuff. I'll second a recommendation for Corky's downtown, they have some cool stuff sometimes. |
