Here's another one..
I will be working the greater South Norfolk area of Chesapeake later today. I usually run radar on Tatemstown and Stahlham, Old Atlantic and Atlantic, and Campostella and Common. I wont necessarily stay in any of those spots for too long, I like to move around between calls. Be advised, I will also stop for equipment violations, and tint violations. :) |

I did pullover a nice gentleman with a CCW carrying a Glock 23.
Folks, laminate your CCW permit. This guy's looked like it had been through the wash a half a dozen times. When you do carry, make sure you carry the same weapon the officer carries while he is off duty!! |

We drove up to MD Sunday to see off my buddy's son. This will be his second tour in the sand box.
I have never seen so many Police out on the roads in all my 30 years in this area! Wow. I just set the cruise control to the speed limit and enjoyed the beautiful day and conversation with my family as we drove. I was that annoying guy holding everyone else back going slow in the right lane in a big white van.

Did he get nailed by VSP? Some units have Spectre IV RDD (radar detector detectors) that will pick up signals emitted by all but a small handful of the higher end units from Bel and Escort. VG2 RDD has been around awhile and is easy to defeat, the Spectre changes the game significantly. I've never had any experience with Cobra but if you are serious about running a RD don't cheap out. Do it right. ETA: Are you sure your boss wasn't hit with laser? By the time your RD goes off you just got a ticket...assuming your RD even went off in the first place. |

Would I be alone here in having the opinion that speeding just isn't worth all the work and hassle and stress?
Having to be constantly on edge and looking out for the speed traps and getting caught up in the dreaded "Accordian" of vehicles racing to speed up and then slamming their brakes on over and over? Since reaction times are less and less for the last folks in line on the accordian, the folks at the rear tend to have rear end colllisions. Stress, edgyness, higher possiblity of accidents, expense of tickets and accidents.......... Maybe I am just becoming an old man. But I prefer life in the slow lane now. My insurance rates are about a joke too. My "kids" hate me for it compared to what they have to pay for theirs. Yep, the trip is much more relaxing when you just sit down, set the GPS and set the cruise control and then hop in the back seat for a nap and take your time getting there. OK, just joking about the last part. When our kids were younger we owned a C Class RV. We tow a trailer with the bike on it to rallies. Not exactly a sports car. We'd often travel on back hiways like Route 17. We'd let folks pass us. Lots of folks would pass us. But you know what? Red lights are tthe great equalizer. Seems like we always caught up to them at the next light. If they did get there faster than we did, it wasn't by much. Slowing down meant less stress, significantly better gas mileage too. We'd enjoy the trip more. Slowing down...... I recommend it from personal experience! |

Not worth the worries, plus, if I was speeding and something bad happened to someone innocent, I would know that I did not do all I could to prevent it. YMMV |
