[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Chickahominy WIldlife Management Area

Anyone hunted this area before? I have seen their website, but was curious if anyone has been in the woods in this location and had any opinions about it. Is it usually crowded, or any other information you may have?

Also, does anyone know of a butcher from Charles City back towards eastern Henrico (I'm thinking it is Route 10) that dresses and processes deer. In NC the Department of Agriculture post a list of butchers, but haven't been able to find anything similar for Virginia.

It's been a few years, but I went deer hunting there a few times and will never do it again. It was a mad house and noone seemed to care that there were actually people there deer hunting.

Pretty much any WMA near any center of population is going to be a zoo on Saturdays during the regular gun season.

If you want to hunt WMA's you need to go during the week, or during Archery season.
