| What happened to this store. I called them today to get a price on a Remington 7600 pump action rifle. Salesman answers the phone, I tell him what I am looking for and ask if they have any. He puts me on hold and tells me that Remington no longer makes this rifle. I tell him that I checked with Remington and they do still produce the rifle. He then tells me no they don't and I would have to find a used one. I said thanks and hung up. The salesman was never rude just uneducated on the rifle (I guess). A couple years ago I special ordered a pistol from them. When I went to pick it up the guy behind the counter ask If I had purchased a pistol in the last 30 days. I said yes, handed him my DL and CC permit and he told me I could not purchase the pistol regardless of the CCP. He got very defensive when I told him I could then he finally asked someone who knew the law and I got the pistol. I have bought lots from Clark Brothers in the past but their poor customer service in the last few years has turned me away. Anyone else feel the same way? |

Sorry you had bad service; it seems to be hit or miss in there. When I was there, the gentleman helped me pick out the right ammo for my barrel specs and some good targets. The range master let me borrow a spotting scope and was very friendly since it was my first time out. Hope everyone else is getting better service than this. |

I have been boycotting them for awhile. Twice in a month I had experiences on that range that scared the snot out of me, and I used to shoot there once a weerk on average. Now, with gas prices what they are, it is cheaper just to pay range fees at NRA...
As a store, I have seen some SCREAMING good deals in there, and some horrible ones. There are usually a few good buys, but I haven't been inside in years to confirm. As far as salespeople go, there have always been a couple worth having, and more that were not. shooter |

My personal observation is that there alot of newbs working in gun stores nowadays...... They are enamored with themselves and think they know it all. When a customer comes in and calls them on their lack of knowledge, they feel challenged. My 2 cents. For what it's worth, I still frequent al my old haunts, but if I don't know you then NO, you can't help me.
Again, MY 2 cents....YMMV |

I have found the sales people to be generally uninterested in assisting people. For a while they were the only game in town for a gun store in the area on a Saturday afternoon. I have not been back since Grayghost in Culpeper opened up. Where are they at? I'm through there every week. |

If you into the middle of town of Culpeper turn onto 522 going tward Sperryville and it's only about a mile or two on the right in a shopping strip mall.
Brett is a great guy. 604 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701 540.825.0028 Mon-Fri: from 10-6 PM Sat: 10-5 PM Sun: Closed |
| I was in Clark Brothers about six months ago when an elderly lady came in and asked for some ammunition for her revolver. It was a Colt Police Positive that she called her "bedroom gun" and was marked ".32 Colt New Police". The clerk looked at the boxes of pistol ammo, and told her that he didn't have any ammo that was suitable for use in her gun. He then did his best to get her to trade in the gun on a new Smith & Wesson. I casually remarked to him that .32 Colt New Police is the same as .32 Smith & Wesson. He immediately told me that I didn't know what I was talking about, and acted like a total jerk. On my way out, I told the lady that .32 S&W would work just fine in her gun. I haven't been back since. Too bad. Mitch & Lauren there at Clark brothers are two really nice people. It's a shame that they've got a couple of idiots working the counter. |
| I've been to Clark Bros. a couple of times in the last 6 months. I was fortunate to deal with Steve (the owner, not the other Steve) the first time where I was placing an order and pickup of part of the order. First part was an H&K and Steve had no problem pulling out all the catalogs for IWB holsters. Prices were straight MSRP though. Nice enough experience but not so much that I wouldn't go someplace closer next time. (Virginia Arms, QTS, etc). |
| I only go into Clarke Bros to get the occasional reloading supply or component if I can't find it anywhere else because it is on my drive when I tavel to Fredericksburg to see the in-laws. Unfortunatley thier prices are very high and not reasonable in my opinion. I was in there last weekend and saw they had some primers for sale. I asked what the price was and the sales guy told me $50 per 1000. I said no thanks, I can find them cheaper somewhere else and he didn't even blink In the last few weeks, I have found primers in the $30-$40 range at other stores around the country. He told me that the prices have gone up on primers and won't ever be going back down. He would have been correct about a month ago, but times change and the demand is not there anymore and is dissapearing. They will be sitting on those primers for a long time at those prices. I don't like being lied to about prices. It seems to me that they think everyone who comes in there knows nothing about the gun industry and what they are trying to buy. I have never priced any of their firearms because I know they are way out of the ball park without even asking. I probably will never return to that store again. |
| The few time I've been in there I found the service generally abrasive and the merchandise anywhere from fair to ridiculously overpriced. I don't walk in with a chip on my shoulder anywhere I go. It doesn't get you good help. I rarely have problems interacting with people, these guys just hate the customer. |
