FWIW (and I know, not much)...

Dear wmounts:

Thank you for contacting my office regarding President Obama’s nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court.

Judge Sotomayor has a compelling personal story and a life of signifigant legal achievement.  I look forward to further reviewing her record during the confirmation process in the Senate.

I have voted for the President’s nominees who I believe possess the knowledge, skill, and experience necessary to serve effectively.  I will continue to evaluate all nominees carefully and will weigh your views and the views of other Virginians in the process.

Thank you once again for contacting me and my staff on this important matter.  I hope that you will continue to share your views with us in the years ahead.

I would also invite you to visit my website at www.webb.senate.gov for regular updates about my activities and positions on matters that are important to Virginia and our nation.

                                                                       Sincerely,

Jim Webb
United States Senator

ETA: I think it's great that a "compelling story" trumps racist thought and speech.  The right needs to remember this.

Didn't Warner's email using the "compelling story"?

I guess Soros is writing emails for the Senate so they just send them out verbatim.

Yes, her "personal story" was held up as a positive by Warner...  See this thread.
