Anyone know if Virginia Arms has got them?

There was a bunch at the gunshow yesterday.

I was hoping to find one at Virginia Arms and have Rob install it.  I'm afraid to do it myself and crack the receiver.

As long as you support the receiver while working the role pin, you won't crack it.

Just use a block of wood to support the other side, and tap tap tap tap tap in.

The enhanced trigger guard ain't cheap, but she feels better than the stock guard. This one is smoother and won't chafe your trigger finger like the stock one does.

Thanks!  Is it recomended to take off the grip?  Just ordered the Magpul trigger guard.

Leave the grip on.  FWIW, a 1" role of electrical tape works great as an ersatz bench block while putting on the trigger guard.  That thing is mandatory on an AR as far as I am concerned.

Think I could get by using a sandbag?

Instead of a soft piece of wood, I use a dense foam mouse-pad (neoprene?) and it seemed to do a good enough job of supporting the ears.  (Didn't break 'em  )  Just took a little bit of extra time and a larger number of softer taps to carefully get the roll pin in.  I was also replacing the grip at the time anyway, and it's just one screw to remove, and it did seem to help make things easier (more space to work with) to have the grip removed.  YMMV.

I'm only comfortable using a hard block, like a block of wood or my plastic bench block.  Of course, it needs to have a hole in it for the pin to pass through.  In my opinion, a sandbag or the like wouldn't provide much support –– why risk it?

Here's a trick I use:  I drive the roll pin out of the original trigger guard, but no further.  It remains in the lower tang of the receiver.  Then I drive it back in thru the Magpul guard from the other side.  It's a small thing, but it skips the need of having to insert the roll pin into the receiver hole.

Of course, Robb knows his stuff too.  Having him do it wouldn't ba a bad choice either.
