I want to get a decent fire-rated gun safe––one that's fairly large but not huge. I've seen some at places like Lowe's, Dick's, Sam's, etc ... But I want to buy a safe from someone who will delivery and install it (not just to the front door) in my walk-out lower level sotrage room. My dad in Missouri bought one a while back from Bass Pro, but had to have another company deliver it. Of course, they dropped it and irreperably damaged it. He had a hassle getting the moving company to pay to replace. That's why I just want to pay one company for purchase and inside delivery.
I live in Fairfax. Any ideas? Thnks in advance. I don't want to spend any extra money, but I don't mind paying someone a fair price - I was hoping for no more than $1.2 delivered - or less if possible. |

Best prices including delivery I have seen is Clark's Brothers off route 29. Nice selection of safes. Gander Mountain has some good deals but no delivery.
http://www.clarkbrosguns.com/home.html Also a dealer at the Chantilly gun show is local and has nice selection and prices. I can not remember the name, but have a catalog at home. |

I think this is who you are thinking of, Steve's Services out of Vienna, Va. 703-573-4394 or 1-888-416-7226. I got a Treadlok safe from him a few years back, he sells and does the delivery. |
| I just picked up a Champion safe from Thompson's out of Frederick, MD and couldn't be happier. Their link is here. |

I picked up a Ft Knox from Steve. He set me up with a lower model with upgrades to make it similar to the Titan series, but for less than a Titan. He did deliver the safe himself, but my installation was easy with a single step into the house. Hit up the fun show in Chantilly. He normally sets up in the back on the right side. The local Champion dealer is normally in the back center. |

I bought my safe from a Liberty Safe dealer in Norfolk. He sells at most of the gunshows in the area. While I found better buys on safes, most places either didn't deliver or hired a local mover to deliver. This was a big deal to me as I didn't want some fly by night moving company who hired day laborer's to deliver.
I don't think any of us wants to have some parolee making minimum wage taking note of where he just delivered a gun safe to and oh by the way making up a shopping list for his return to your house. Call me paranoid, but I at least want a reputable guy to deliver. Please be very careful about purchasing a gun safe, to me delivery by someone you trust is worth paying a lot extra than buying one at Dicks or Bass Pro Shop etc. |

FWIW, I have a Stack On from Dick's. Not the greatest safe but it will keep the casual house breaker out of my stuff. Anyway, I picked up the safe in my F-150 and brought it in using my hand truck. Safe had a shipping weight of about 400lbs if I remember correctly.
Hand trucks and "Moving Men" floor sliders are great. Another thing I like to do is drill and anchor into my concrete floor and use all thread or a bolt to attach the safe to the floor. This prevents someone from just stealing my safe. |

I used Baldino's Lock and Safe in Fairfax. I would NOT recommend them. They are the closest liberty dealer to NOVA but took forever to actually get the safe in. I went to the store and looked at them placed the order and was told about two weeks until delivery. I took off of work and waited at home for them. No one showed up, called or any thing
I started leaving messages which they never returned and finally got some one on the phone who said they had written down the wrong phone number for me. and that there was a delay and it would not be coming in. At the price I paid them you would think they would be able to write my contact information down correctly.
It took almost two months to get my safe and they were very difficult to deal with. Liberty is a great product. I will not deal with those guys again. They actually called me about 8 months after I had it and demanded payment? I paid the full amount the day I left the show room No idea how they stay in business.

| Steve's in Vienna is the ONLY way to go in NoVA....my father-in-law and his brother have bought at least five safes from him and he does the delivery––––apparently has a neat little tracked mover that will take the safe downstairs/upstairs....never heard anything bad about him. |

Costco has Cannon safes on sale right now and I just ordered one last week. They deliver to the curb but I have heard that if you tip the driver, he will bring it into the house to the floor you want, negotiable but off the books and not insured if damages occur. the price of the costco Cannon safe compared to the Baldino Cannon save was easily 150 bucks less at costco. You have to have a membership at costco to take advantage of the sale. it was the 21 cu ft model for 799. |
| I got my Liberty safe years ago from Virginia Safe & Lock in Springfield, VA. Nice folks and great service. |

my heritage cover filled up, so i needed another safe, and didnt want to break the bank, so i picked up a stack on elite 28 gun from dicks when it was on sale for $650. i have to say, its a great safe for the $$. is a heritage, well no. will it keep my guns protected from fire and theft, you bet.
safes arnt as hard to get into a house as you think, i picked mine up from dicks in the back of my giant lifted truck, my dad came over and helped me, we turned it down off the truck, unpacked it, threw it on a frigerator truck and wheeled it in the house. we had to come up 6 big stairs, and it wasnt bad. you can also take the door off of this model, we didnt though, and that gets it down to about 350lbs for the box, and 200 lbs for the door. bolting it to the floor is very easy aswell, has holes in the bottom, just measure, drillscoot back in place and anchor down. you can rent refrigerator trucks from uhual btw for about $5 or so a day. a company is probably going to charge you $200 or so to move it. IMO get a case of beer, rent a frigerator truck, and have some buddies come over have some brews, and give you a hand. |

Mike, I lag screwed my safe to the wall as well as to the floor to keep a potential thief from rocking the safe and breaking/pulling out the floor bolts.

That is a good idea...... Thanks Bob |
