currently i own a Taurus PT 24/7 PRO in .45 ACP. i'm interested in trading it in for either a Sig 226 or 250, or a CZ 75/85, or maybe a nice 12 gauge tactical shotgun...

green top had the base model of 34/7 retailing at $499.

how does trading in a firearm work?

would i trade mine in for credit towards whatever and then pay the difference? any forms i need? etc.

as for my handgun i've only fired about 100 rounds through it, so i'd rate it at 95% or so, and i got it NIB.

yeah, you'd ask them about ta trade value for your gun...then apply that amount towards the price of the new one.
BUT, you'd be better off selling it yourself or doing a consignment sale of your gun...because whoevere takes your gun in trade will need to be able to make money off of it to.
If they were going to sell your used gun for say. $450 - they'd probably offer you $385 for it...that way, they make about 15% on yours...

you would do the same forms as if you were buying a new gun...just in the case of a new handgun, the form would be marked by the dealer as a trade, so it wouldn't count towards your 1 gun a month rule in VA

I'm sure most shops down there will do it.  I know VA Arms in Manassas does them for a 15% fee off the selling price.  Could be worth your drive up on a Saturday.
