Going down to visit a friend in virginia, tyson's corner. Would there be a problem coming from new york city and purchasing a rifle/shotgun/longun down there and bringing it back up? Any reccomendations for shops along the i95 or in general vicinity of tyson's corner. Thank you for your input. I am LEO up in new york if that makes a difference.

It used to be that Badge Americard would be good for something like this....not so sure anymore.

Uh, what kind of difference should that make?

You could buy it here if it is legal in NY to own, but you'd have to have it transferred up there so the NY dealers could satisfy some of the stupid laws you have in your state.  You cannot buy a gun in one state being the resident of another, especially two states like NY and VA which aren't contiguous.

Only partly true.  You can buy a long gun if the laws of both states allow it.  Handguns no.

Thanks for the clarification!

But since dealers may not feel they are familiar with the laws in another state, especially one that does not border them (especially if it has the reputation of being "behind enemy lines"), many will insist on shipping to another FFL in the destination state to CYA.

Well considering you can own and carry a firearm (the code states specifically firearm and only excludes machine gun and silencer) in all 50 states, if they will not sell it to you find a better dealer. I know several LE friendly dealers closer to Richmond. I see what you are saying if you want an AR or something with NY evil features. You can legally have it but the letterhead and all is a bitch. This sollution kind of side steps the problem all together.

Thank you for all the responses. Are there any dealers people know of further north?
