ok so heres the deal, im getting married on july 7, her family is coming all the way from holland. does anybody know where i can take these people to visit? i can take them to VA beach but who wants to come thousands of miles to see brown water and over prised merchandise. i could also take them to williamsburg and see jamestown and all that. so i was wondering if anybody has any suggestions on any interesting places to visit. i would hate for them to come over and see nothing but my backyard. oh yeah i also get to show them their first guns and let them shoot for the first time in their lives. so that should be interesting |
| Ddowntown Richmond has lots of history, so does Fredericksburg. Take them on a train ride to DC to the museums, hell their is LOTS to do around here. The Mountains are nice this time of year, just depends on how far you want to drive/ get them out of the house. Ive been through this with relatives from Germany...~lol~ |
Where do you live? In Charlottesville, Monticello is always a huge hit, especially with foreign visitors. |
Ah. Take them to Bush Gardens, Williamsburg. Free beer in the hospitality house, and good old fashioned American spectacle. |

another +1, and then hit 64 east, stopping in Charlottesville and possibly a night in Richmond before heading home,, |

Come on to Jamestown Settlement as well... and especially the fort. For your new Dutch inlaws we can weave quite a bit of Dutch history into our early Virginia history. If you are hitting the area in early July, our first phase of the World of 1607 should still be open. We have on several Dutch items from the Prince of Nassau. |

Blueridge Parkway is only 4 hours north on I64. Go south on the parkway and get off at Peaks of Otter and you'll be near the WW 2 memorial in Bedford, see that and have some lunch at some country place and that's a full day of activity for no too much cash. Come back on 460 for a change of scenery. |
yeah that sounds good to me. about how much is it to take the tour and are the sandwiches free? never mind about the fee, i see it now after looking at the website. i take it thats per person? |
And the Two-Shilling Red is excellent. |

I second the suggestion for the Marine Corps Museum. I went there last week. AWSOME! Since you're up that way DC is close by with all the museums there, and as mentioned, the NRA museum and don't forget the Simthsonian air and space museum at Dulles. If you stay down here, then I think Bush Gardens and Jamestown are a must. |

Well NoVA is out of the question, the Busch Gardens Old Country sounds good, Yorktown, Jamestown, maybe you can arrange a tour of the base at Norfolk? See some the ships? Looks like you've gotten some excellent suggestions! Congrats on the upcoming wedding and hope your in-laws enjoy the stay. Not sure if this was mentioned but take them out to shoot the EBR! |
