Ok, so what should my bonus go towards? A nice supressor? or nightvision? Thoughts? Unfortunately, get both is not an option at this point in time. |
Tag for the inevitable "get both" ![]() Kind of depends on your view of the future. What do you think is more likely to be regulated? What would be more useful if SHTF? What would you actually USE more often? I have both. Suppressors get a lot more use than NVGs, but I'm pretty attached to my NVGs at times too (as in "when it's dark!"). Tough call. |

Maybe it's just me, but I'm concerned about what kind of NV you can get for the same price as a can. Most suppressors I see are well under $1K (closer to $500), whereas I don't know many NV packages worth investing in that are in that price range. If you're looking at getting cheap night vision, I'd recommend the suppressor or save your money until you can get some good gear. Victor sells some very nice NV equipment on the EE (www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=23&t=351694 and www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=23&t=325855, for example). If you're serious about nightvision and haven't read up on it, I'd recommend reading the holy grail of NV info threads at www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=18&t=194640. You'll probably also want to read www.intas.org/Nachtsicht/nightvision-gnl.htm a few times if you're not familair with night vision terms and technology. I probably didn't state this clearly in my previous post, but I'd recommend quality nightvision any day over a suppressor if you can only have one. Friends don't let friends buy cheap nightvision. We'll only see it on the EE in a month with a statement about how you don't talk to us any more after we let you buy this junk Good luck! If you're anywhere near the Richmond area, you're welcome to try out both.... |

I guess I did leave some info out. If I go the NV route, I will spend more than I would on a supressor. I've used some Gen 1 stuff and that's not what I'm looking for. At a minimum I would like to get Gen 2. Anything more than that is just out of my price range, so I would most likely just save up. I've learned a few things and one of them is you do get what you pay for. Blackfox, I am up in Hanover and would like to get together and see what I'm missing. Thanks for the offer and a PM is forthcoming. |
