I was just curious if anyone in here knows what the eligibility requirements are in order to run for the state assembly. These asshats can't get sh*t done without trying to attach stupid riders to a friggin budget. Some asshat down in Bedford wants to attach $750,000.00 for a friggin horse farm to the proposed budget. If anyone can help me out I'd be very grateful. Oh yeah, and dont forget to vote for me if ya see me on the ballot |

Step 1: Join your local Republican or Democratic committee, whichever is more in line with your political leanings. Before you can run you'll need to know how your local Party works, and the process it uses to select nominees for office. Step 2: Learn how to be a candidate, fundraise, and run a campaign by working on other local and state campaigns. Step 3: Build up your "political resume": - by getting appointed to local commissions to learn how local government works, - by taking on leadership responsibilities on your local Committee, - by taking on a leadership role in an activist organization, and - by taking classes at somewhere like the Leadership Institute (Media Relations, Managing a Campaign, Effective Fundraising, etc.) Step 4: Run for a local office, such as School Board or Board of Supervisors. These people have a lot more effect on your day-to-day life than you think! This is another resume-builder. Step 5: Run for State Delegate or Senator. I did Step 1 about ten years ago, doing Step 2 and most of Step 3 now. I'm also not planning on running for anything at the state level for at least another ten years, mainly because I'm giving birth to my first child this summer. If a local office opens up I'll give it a go, but my local guys are pretty good so there's no reason to challenge them. |
