Don't confuse being "seen" with being an effective moderator. It's not a popularity position and actually NOT being seen is the mark of good moderation. But, when it comes to this forum, the point is moot. When was the last time you observed anything in here that would merit "moderation"? Never. I cruise here all the time, almost everyday- I never see any trouble and the job as moderator is a formality here (and that's a good thing). It's not an "organizer" or leader either- if someone wants to take the lead on events or try and get the Virginians together (again, a good thing), they don't have to be a moderator to do that. In fact, that's absolutely not part of the job. So it begs the question: Why was Mike replaced? Lack of moderating skills? Obviously not. If it was because he does not post a lot, it was a shitty move. Even shittier was the fact that no one bothered to let him know. |
Not true. Before they even started The Hometown boards they said they wanted the Mods to lead, organize shoots and gatherings, so in fact it absolutely part of the job. As far as the rest of your ?, you need to check with the boss. |
If someone told you that, then I believe you. However, "they" say a lot of things. Being a leader or organizer is a good thing- you don't need to be a mod to do that, and vice versa. It has never been part of the job. If that is true, then why don't we make sure all the other mods are "leaders and organizers" and cull the "unseen" out of the stock? Again, the whole thing smells like my ex-girlfriend's vagina (trust me, you don't want to go there  ). Even if what you say is correct, not letting Mike know was a bad move and not the way we do things here- at least for the last 6 years I've been here.BTW, he would have gladly stepped down and I'm sure, knowing him, he's pissed that I'm doing any of this.

Steve, I'm sorry you're so upset by all this. I was unaware that Claymore had been removed until I was appointed as Moderator. I don't see any reason that he still couldn't be a Mod in here. I definitely think he should of been notified either way. The reason I made that earlier post was because some people seemed to think we only had one Mod here. I wasn't trying to say anything negative about Claymore at all. As far as me becoming a Mod because of what I do or don't do. If you come in here everyday then know that I have been working to the benefit of the VA members long before I became a Mod. I'm currently working on the III BRD and this had been planned long before I became a Mod. Even if I had never become a Mod, I still would keep doing the BRD, and any other things I could come up with to help get the VA members get together. Why do I do this? Because I feel it benefits all the Black Rifle Owners when we can get to know eachother better. I have gotten the chance to meet a lot of members from this board and have been impressed with everyone of them. I enjoy seeing all the old faces, and getting to meet all the new ones as well. As a matter of fact, I hope that you and Mike come out to the BRD and have a great time with the rest of us. I personally would enjoy meeting you both and hope you can make it. |

VA-Gunnut, I have zero problem with you and am glad to see you become a mod. Your leadership here will shine with or without the title, please keep up the good work and I will try and be more involved (yes, I will be there in September) myself. My problem was with the method, not the outcome. I think you will be a good mod whether it's here or in GD. |
