Ok, this has been bugging me for a while,
It's not a ccw, it's not a permit . It is a ccl, a license not a permit. What really bugs me is all the ccl instructors that call it a permit, you would think they would know what it is. Call it what it is. It's a concealed carry license. |

Quoted:
Is there even a legal distinction between the two? The processes that are imposed makes them the same in practical effect in the real world. legal distinction yes. some states call it concealed carry weapon, others concealed carry license. in illinois it is concealed carry license. my point is, call it what it is, not what you think it is or should be |

my point is, call it what it is, not what you think it is or should be Right now I call it "ridiculous", bordering on "vaporware". You could get a TS/SCI clearance done faster, and without discrimination. "CCW" is a generic/colloquial term. "License" or "permit" used in this context are colloquial terms. I'm sure people will continue to use the word "Kleenex" also, instead of saying "Puffs brand facial tissue". Yes it's an "Illinois Firearms Concealed Carry License". IL-FCCL. They should have made the card brown instead of blue. Maybe residents of Illinois don't want to be reminded that their legislators think of them as excrement, and choose some other term? |
