We have a garden, its close to 16x16, my wife and I had it tilled and we laid down the black paper and planred, grass and weeds grew under the black paper and now its suffocating the plants the paper is getting above the plants. do you guys know any gardeners? nothing is growing.

We have a gardening forum if you want better help than me, but Id take the paper off and weed your garden with a hoe.

And water it.

Better off weeding when required.  Ground cover fabrics sometimes cause more problems then leaving the earth to get sun and air.

Yep, get that barrier layer gone. It's a lot easier to pull the weeds by hand since the garden's freshly tilled. they'll come out easily.

Its to much work for 2 people. I cant do it myself and my wife works long days. I posted it here because I figured someone here would know a gardener, in the gardening forum I dont know how many are in IL.

I use to use news paper covered with grass clippings. Last year I tried the weed mat covered with grass clippings.
Did it again this year. The grass clippings weigh down the weed mat and help keep in the moisture.

I was planning on using grass clippings this year but they seem in short supply.
