| OK, I can't be the only guy getting more and more pissed about the toll increases coming!!!!!!!! |
|
Yeah I am pretty ticked. I just finally pulled the handle and got my own IPass earlier this year instead of sharing the family unit. I don't travel much, but my gosh it's insane what it costs to use a stretch of road.
Weren't the IPass systems supposed to go away after a given highway project? Don't they get enough money in tax anyway?? Why do roads outside of the state of Illannoys seem to be in better condition, in spite of how much they charge us to use the roads here??? ![]() ![]()

| They'll never get rid of the gravy train known as tolls. I know some can't avoid the toll roads but I've been able to avoid them for the past 6 years and plan to keep on doing so. The state taxes, fines, tolls and charges higher and higher prices at a pretty steady pace. I'm waiting for them to announce that all highways will be toll roads so they can line their pockets a little bit more.. |

I agree; this is nothing more than another Illinois money grab. I use the tollway just because it saves me about 15 mins on my commute each way. That said however, come Jan 1 I plan on going back to the surface streets just because of this increase. I'm only going to use the tollway when i have no other choice. I think it's BS that we now get to pay even more money to drive on some of the shittiest roads in the midwest.
Rant off. |

this is bs, 11 people decided to almost double the tolls. no public vote, referendum or public discossion welcome to illinois The Tollway is governed by an 11-member board of directors. The Governor of Illinois and the head of the Illinois Department of Transportation serve as ex officio members of the Tollway Board. The remaining 9 members are named by the governor. No more than 5 appointed members may be of the same political party as the governor. The Authority has the power to collect and raise tolls, and is responsible for the maintenance and construction of tollway roads and related signage (including electronic message boards, used for driving time notices, Amber Alerts and other notifications). The Tollway also supervises and manages the seven Illinois Tollway oases. The close relationship between the governor and the near-majority of appointed board members has led to numerous allegations of endemic corruption throughout the tollway authority's lifetime.[5] The ISTHA's annual budget for fiscal year 2010 totals $696 million.[2] The ISTHA has 1,704 full-time employees, of which 754 are toll collectors.[1] As of January 1, 2010, ISTHA has $4,074,675,000 in bond debt,[6] which have been rated Aa3, AA- and AA- by Moody’s Investors Service, Fitch Ratings and Standard & Poor's, respectively.[7] The ISTHA has the power to take lands by eminent domain, |

I heard that too and I couldn't believe it, he really thinks that all Illannoy residents are as stupid as the inner-city parasites that he counts on for votes. This state is circling the drain faster and faster every day.
Quoted:
That can't be... I heard a recording of Governor Quinn himself on the radio today, in which he said "Illinois has the strongest economy in the nation." |

With that analogy, the best we can do is hold onto the edge, let it fall and try not to let it take us with it. This also includes the likelihood that Sears Corporate is going to leave. Aye yae yae!
