This from Bama-Shooter in the GD

A Republican-led effort to allow Illinois residents to carry concealed weapons by obtaining a permit in another state — loosening D.C. gun laws in the process — did not pass a final hurdle on Monday night before major gun legislation reaches the House floor.

Rep. Timothy Johnson and four fellow Illinois members of Congress offered an amendment to the National Right to Carry Reciprocity Act that would allow a resident of a state or jurisdiction that does not allow concealed-carry permits to obtain the permit in another state and then use it in their home state. The amendment also would allow people with a concealed-carry permit in another state to bring that privilege with them into Illinois or the District.

Big shocker.

I'm sure all the political clowns in this state are happy that they can continue to be the resistance to human rights.

Problem is, there's plenty of people that are happy as a clam that we are the last state to ban people from the right to protect themselves outside of their homes.

Well, HR822 passed by a wide margin in the house. Now we'll see if it ever makes it to the senate floor for a vote. I have to think passage and enactment of this bill would put more pressure on Illinois to enact CC.

I would personally love to see SCOTUS shove it up and break it off in Springfield's ass and impose AK/VT style carry, if only for the strokes it would give Daley and all the yuppie anti RKBA folks...

But I'd he happy with something like WI or what was proposed earlier this year.

As opposed to passing yet another law, why not repeal all the ones that make it so taboo to carry a defensive weapon???

I'd say demagoguery in the midst of a very dire economic crises is even more of a threat to Illinois residents.

Of course I will draw fire for pointing out that presenting legislation such as this on a federal level is an attempt at political power retention, locally and nationally.

Such exercises are designed to play to political bases, it's this easy on the Republican side of things. It takes almost nothing to play to a certain element of the GOP base.

This is a great way to get voters pissed at Democrats and shift any attention away from House Republicans who are by all means, useless.

I will continue to nurture the ideas of constitutionality and liberty, so that exercises such as these never even need to be discussed.

This actually makes a lot of sense. Still want CCW in this state.
