Quoted: what is the big difference between the Utah and Florida CCW permits ? The biggest difference, at least for someone like me who visits Florida fairly often, is that Florida does not recognize other states' non-resident permits. If you are a non-resident, to legally carry in Florida you need a Florida Non-Resident Permit. |

In terms of coverage, see http://handgunlaw.us
In terms of cost: Utah = $65.25, valid 5 yrs, need class taught by Utah approved instructor (no range time required), photo, prints; renew in 5 yrs with $10 and new photo FL = $117, valid 7 yrs, need "training", photo, prints; renew in 7 yrs with new photo, prints and $107. FL "training" can be demonstrated by... - DD214 - a State Hunter Safety Class - NRA class* -any general firearms class taught by NRA instructor* *these classes are supposed to have a range component to them |

Don't know about Utah CCW.
I took a CCW class a year ago for the Florida non-resident license. $100 for the class $25 for finger printing and paper work. $117 for the license. Had to fire 40 rounds to prove I could shoot a gun and handle it safely. Instructor provided a .22 for use or you could use your own. |
| The FL is more flexible if you want to travel to Florida. There are a few of us that are NRA trainers here on the HTF. Before I received my certification a buddy and his wiife's FL app was rejected due to no proficiency training with the hunter saftey course. People are getting them with just that but some are getting rejected. |
