Quoted:
Did he have a FOID on record? What was his affiliation? FOID? I'll bet a dollar the answer is no. Party affiliation? The fact that you have to ask means he's a democrat. If he was a republican the headline would be " The republican mayor of Springfield Illinois, who is currently under investigation for blah, blah, blah, killed himself with a gun today...." |

Fixed that for you.... Larry |

All the Davlin's are lifelong Dems. I personally know one of his brothers and he is a great guy and retired LEO. I feel so sad for his family and especially his children who forever will hate Christmas because of what he did. Yes there was a small scandal breaking dating back to before he was mayor. Whatever his reasons I don't think it was worth killing yourself over. |

I saw that somewhere and for half a second I thought it read something about Governor and felt a just a bit of pleasure course through my veins.
Ah well, either way, he took the coward's way out. "Took the coward's way out" Have you ever had your world cave in around you? Been worried about disgracing your family? Been looking at prison time? Or had a family member commit suicide? I know in advance this is going to come off the wrong way, but if you would answer the above questions with a "no", then just STFU! |

Yes, that came off the wrong way. For a moment, I thought you were suggesting that it's OK to run away, escape, and not take personal responsibility for your own actions. I know that's not what you meant. I also thought you might have meant that it's understandable to leave your family behind to cope with the aftermath of your personal destruction with no answers, and I know that's not what you meant either. I think what you really meant was you hoped people would feel more symathetic about the tragedy befalling the family in the wake of this man's irresponsible actions, and thoughtless solution. I know that's what you really meant, right? Edited for spelling. |

Not you, nor a relative or a friend has ever been mentally ill or terminally ill, but then that wouldn't matter. You have such a firm grasp on things you could just cruise through it. I really hope I do not know you. |

It is due to chemical imbalances, namingly the big one, serotonin. Human instinct=survival even in the most abhorrent of human conditions i.e. Stalingrad, Zulu, whatever. It takes a chemical imbalance for one to end their own life and deep, crushing depression. If you are seeking any sort of objectivity, intelligence, enlightenment or an even greater stretch, human compassion, you are looking in the wrong place my friend.[/quote] |

Funny, Jack Franks is a Democrat and has a FOID. I have seen it. Ironically, Jack each and every time comes out as more of a conservative than his colleague Pam Althoff a "Republican" |

If you notice my post count, I post very little around here because of the large number of armchair experts, commandos, snipers, seals, geniuses, tough guys, etc. Just insert the required term. This one just hit me because of either the thoughtless attitude, haste, or just plain insensitivity it takes to post crap like that. Or maybe my favorite term applies........school must be out. thank you |
