I have an acquaintance who runs the Surefires and likes 'em.

Primary Weapon Systems FSC 556.

Makes the the weapon a little louder for people around you, but it greatly reduces muzzle flip. Can't speak much about flash suppression though since I typically shoot during the day.

I have 2 PWS 556 and they do a nice job of reducing muzzle climb.  A bit obnoxious if you get stuck next to it but nothing like the old Bushmaster comp during the ban years.  Couple of weeks ago a few of us did a night shoot and there was a slight flash from my perspective but it didn't blind me.  It's a good mix between brake and flash hider.

The Battle comp intrigues me but I'll let a few folks here get it to make a decision.  Maybe somebody going to the Magpul Carbine II will show up with one so a few of us could test it for them.

+1 the battle comp rocks. I got to shoot an AR last week with one. It is like the 500 dollar KAC break in terms of effectiveness and noise -  I've shot both, and it is my opinion they are similar. I don't know about flash suppression because I never shot it at night.

I switched from the FSC 556 to the BattleComp. I'm going to sell the FSC and not look back. All the benefits and more, and none of the drawbacks.

Can you be a little more specific? The only drawback I see for the FCS556 is the blast for people next to you. It does a great job of flash suppression for a brake. What is better about the Battlecomp? I have seen all of the great reviews, but few specific vs. the FCS556. I don't mind spending $150 if I gain something.

From the video it shows it being used on a full auto M16. Barrel seems to stay on line very nicely. So I guess it would benefit those with full auto.

IIRC you got to experience the blast of my FSC556 at the MagPul class last year at Racine . In my opinion the BattleComp has noticeably less flash than the FSC556 both in daylight and lowlight. The recoil reduction is comparable to the Surefire MB, I would say more of a backward push. Shooting prone with the FSC556 I had issues with the target becoming obscured shooting rollover prone, not so with the BattleComp. As much as I liked the FSC556 it was a miserable bitch to shoot in an enclosed space, I can't even imagine what it would be like in an Active Shooter situation inside a school hallway. Andy I don't remember where you live, but If you want to try my BattleComp shoot me an IM and we'll set something up. Hell, if you want to try the FSC556 you can try mine it's in my parts bin.

I appreciate the offer, but I won't be able to get to the range until September. I had wanted to take both Magpul C2 and Tactical Response Fighting pistol and carbine, but, in order to avoid being served with divorce papers, I am dedicating August to remodeling my kitchen. It is a major remodel and I will do all of the work except for the hardwood floors, so I out of service until it's done. I'm not complaining and between my real job and the FD, my wife puts up with a lot of crap. I do plan on making the Marksman BBQ. Maybe, since his father is moving anyhow, we can do a muzzle brake comparison on the patio .
