How long does it take to get one these days? My expires 1/1/10, how soon do I have to apply for a new one?

I've been hearing 4-6 weeks. Not too sure. I'm assuming the application frenzy has died down. I still have mine until 2011, so I'm gonna wait until the end of 2010. Perhaps someone else will chime in with better details/results.

I renewed mine in June. Sent it out June 1st and got my brand new 10 year foid on the 26th.

Recent NICS activity seems to speed renewals quite a bit.

Just got my renewal card back. Took less than 4 weeks.

Renewed mine in less than 3 weeks, received my sons in 4.

Got it today. Sent it on 8-10; check was cashed 8-18; received 9-16. Not too bad.

ETA: Its good until 2019.
