I know the ISP is a bit overloaded with new FOID applications. Any idea the wait tiime for a renewal?

It's been about 6 weeks.

Thanks,

Mine has been over 2 months now.  I've tried calling the number mentioned in an earlier post about FOID cards, but its always busy.  I will keep trying to get through.

my renewal has been in for over 6 weeks, i called last week to complain, they said it would be in the mail by the end of this week.
its hard to get through the busy signal, redial the hell out of it, you'll get through.

I sent mine in and they cashed the check on Dec. 17. I just got it today. I called and complained last week and they said it hadn’t even been processed yet. CALL AND COMPLAIN or you will wait.

Update:

Finally got through to the ISP FOID department.  I  told them it's been about 6 weeks and if they could
check to see where I may be in the pile.  He asked my name and DOB, then he then said he would try to get it out today !

I didn't want to press my luck and ask when I would have received it IF I didn't call.

Your tax dollars at work.

When applying or renewing your FOID card send a money order instead of a check.
My understanding is no paperwork is started until check clears.
No waiting with money order.

Good Luck

I finally had enough and called my state rep's office yesterday.  Gentleman said he would call and check on it for me, and get back to me.  I will update this when I find out anything new.

Well, my wife and I have been waiting for over 30 days.  I called yesterday....busy.  I called this morning at straight up 8:30 (so called business hours) and got through and punched the right numbers and was then disconnected.

My FOID Expires January 2010 so I sent in my renewal application 11 months in advance. Even if i made some sort of mistake on the app and I have to re-submit there should be plenty of time for disposition.

This doesn't make sense. Same last name, same address, submitted on the same day... Why would one take 3 weeks and the other take 3 months?  Weird!

I swear they must have a busy switch that comes on during business hours.  This is ridiculous.  Has anyone gone about calling a different division and acting as if they "dialed the wrong number" and asked to be transferred?  ARGH!

It took me ~6 weeks to get my renewal.  I called (repeatedly) finally got through and inquired about the FOID status and they said she would work on the card that day.  I asked about my renewal notice and she said it probably went to my old address.  I had changed my address online 8 months prior, but she said addresses sometimes don't get updated right away!  Prime examples of government bureaucracy and big gov't programs working splendidly!
