any members on here ever go to the sparta shooting complex??
here's the deal they have no rifle or pistol ranges yet...
I was told that if they could get a tournament or something like that lined up they would finally get the "planned" ranges on line I say planned because they have the ground for them they are just not built.
I wanted to know if they did have them how many members on here would be interested in using them?
I would also like to see them do a 3 gun competition maby in the future..

5 hour drive for me. It would have to be a major event to make that trip.

I've shot the Grand American Trapshoot there since they opened.  Other than the 120+ trapfields and the two sporting clays courses they have the cowboy action shooing course.

According to the DNR guys I talked to at The Grand American,  the rifle/pistol ranges originally proposed are distant DREAM at this time because our state is BROKE.

I went there for the first time last week and shot some skeet and asked the old fart in the IDNR office  why they spent all that mony and did'nt put in a rifle range and all I got was a stupid look.Don't believe them for one minute they can't come-up with the cash its just that they make more money off the fudd's shooting thier scatter guns then people shooting thier rifle's.If you have'nt figuered it out,its all about them makin money.
I'm ten minutes from that place so if something is put to gether I might show up.

The World Shooting & Recreational Complex has regular shooting hours for Trap and Skeet and Sporting Clays  Wednesday thru Sundays 10am - 6pmWorld Shootng Complex

The place is amazing. 3.5 miles of trap fields (120 traps) and some of the fields have skeet overlays.  Every August I get to shoot there for the week of the Grand American Trapshoot.  When it was planned they were going to put in the rifle range and we were hoping to bring our EBR's and shoot during our downtime, but the ranges never developed.  They have OVER 1,000 fully developed camping sites that the trapshooters had to pay a fee of $5,000 just to reserve the spot for 10 years of the Grand.

They host a few Major Trapshoots including the Grand American, Some skeet shoots and Several Sporting Clays Tournaments.  During the warmer months they have regular ATA trap shoots< I think Monthly.

There were plans to have a rifle/pistol range but the funds went away.  The DNR was raped by our Great Governor and all the funds sent to other pet projects of his.  Just look at all the State Parks and Conservation areas that he closed (or tried to close) in our area.  As anit gun as ROD is we're lucky to have any place to shoot that is owned by the state.

I always thought Sparta Complex was built with Rod's slush money to appease the downstate folk's that he wasn't "anti-gun". That's the ONLY reason for its existence. Hence its neglect.

Ryan was the one that got approval to build the Sparta Complex.  Rod just tried to take credit once it was finished.
