One of the wifes co-worked texted her.  The lady's husband said it was 6.98 in Springfield.  I'm not buying it, as I didn't see it with my own eyes, but the prices did jump .30/gallon between Thursday and Friday.  Just curious how people freak out about IKE.

I watched it go from 3.77 to 4.99 in less than two hours yesterday. Thank heavens diesel has not shot up. For some reason diesel does not fluctuate like gas does. If diesel does I am tapping into the stash. Btw a few refineries stopped getting new crude last week just due to the price of crude dropping not nothing due to the storm...

I filled up this AM for $4.11 in Willowbrook near I55 and Rt83. It's gone up a bit in the last couple days, but not dramatically.

Grayslake went from 3.80's to 4.15 in one day.

I will continue to go over the border to buy my gas in Pleasant Prarie or Kenosha as I travel that way so often.

Wow, they shot up 3.99 to 4.30 overnight here by Joliet.  Good thing I've got three cars with enough gas in them to get me through a month plus a couple 5 gallon cans of fresh, stabilized gas.

3.89 yesterday-4.29 today in East Peoria.  Sucks . Hope the prices will come back down a little bit by the end of the week, and that my half a tank lasts that long!

My  brother in Alabama called me last night.  Prices at one gas station jumped from $3.65 on Thursday night to $4.85 on Friday afternoon.  It really is happening.

Time for a riot!

It's just because of Ivan hitting Houston. Yes, it's greedy distributors ripping people off in most cases, individual station owners in a few. It will pass.

I'd wait until it goes back down in a week. In my truck I needed a couple gallons to get home yesterday. I'll just park it next week. The lady behind wanted to fill up. I thought to myself she should have done that a day or two ago. It was $4.13/gal.

Oil prices have dropped, but the storms aren't helping gas production.

I could be wrong, but from what I understand the Houston Ship Channel and the refineries did not suffer any damage from Ike. We are seeing short term spikes in price right now based on fears of low inventory. With crude futures currently where they are, I will guess we will see a very large drop in price in a month or so. With prices skyrocketing again, demand will curb, the fears of shortages will subside and excess inventories will be sold off, and then down comes the price. But if I really knew what the hell I was talking about, I'd be a very rich man, which I am not
