Anyone here know about motorcycles?? Me.. I know hardly anything about them and I have a 1977 Honda CB550K. It still needs a few parts but in order to make it to run as well as actually getting it to run.. granted I am not looking to make any money off selling it or anything but having it to use would be a lot more valuabe to me and my wife. |

Its not starburst orange by any chance is it? Just wondering because one of my friends had that exact bike, it was in pretty good shape though. Some CB's do have glitches but in general, if everything is in good shape, pull the carbs and clean them and the jets well, put new plugs in it, and add gas. Usually they will work. A friend of mine did exactly that with a 73' CB 500 that hadn't even been registered in 10 years and it fired right up. I'm not saying it will run like a top, but usually they will run. |

oops forgot to mention that this thing has not run in ???? years, also the origional tank is pretty rusted inside but I got a spare tank that has hardly any rust in it. needs at least one coil, a bracket for mounting the gauges, plug wires (easiest to get) but i need real help with figureing out this wiring and that is not on top of the carbs, oh and also a compression tester to check that. anyone near me?? kind of lost on all this. |
having a 30 year-old obsolete bike is maybe not something for the newbie, or maybe not something for the newbie to expect immediate satisfaction from. But if you're mechanically inclined and patient, , you have an interesting project. |
