Hey anybody have any opinions of the new Bass Pro shops that they put up in Bolingbrook.

No reloading items (except for shotshell wads). Most stuff way over priced. Staff in the firearms dept goes way overboard on the foid policy (I was asked for my foid just for standing and looking at a shotgun on the other side of the pistol case). Only good thing I liked was the staff in the archery dept seemed to know their stuff. Also their fish/trout display is pretty nice.

With Gander Mountain in Kenosha and Cabellas in Hoffman (Wht they put it there is beyond me) I will never go to Bass Pro again. Bass Pro Shops is lame IMHO.

because hoffman estates paid somewhere around 18million for them to build it there.

Glad they did, that place is awesome.

Bass pro sucks.

Horrible prices, lousy selection.

Cabelas destroys both BP and GM shops.

I don't belive that for a second.  That would mean that everybody would be asked when they walk in the door.  You sound like a real story teller.  Lookin for real opinions not hype and fake stories....

I got an IM from Bushmaster asking for my FOID while looking at their rifles online!

My mailman asked for my FOID card before he would give me my American Rifleman magazine.

ARE YOU F-ING KIDDING ME OR WHAT?

I would call the local Post Master on the spot and let him know that one of his emplyees is censoring and/or withholding your mail!!!

I do not belive that a mailman can do such a thing legaly.

whaat?  I've looked at RRA, Kimber, DPMS, online while salivating over rifles and no one has ever asked me for a foid.  I'm sorta screwed, I haven't a foid.

Ok, let me say this again, I was looking at a shotgun across the pistol case when a gentleman asked me if he could see my foid card. It was an older guy with glasses. If you guys want to pretend this a lie go ahead.

How much does Gander want? I just bought a G21SF and wound up at Mega. The only .45 ACP that Gander had was a G30.

$750 dollars for a plain sighted Glock at Gander.  this was 2 weeks ago.  you may want to reconsider Bass Pro, or you could go to mega sports and pay $509.

Twiitch, check your attitude at the door next time please, or simply don't ask anymore questions of IL members.

Gander usually has a decent selection of used guns. I dont remember what the Glocks were going for. The $600 price tag seemed awfully high to me.

Okay so sorry that some people are so soft skinned i will check my opinnion a the door.  I just found it impossible that an employee at BPS asked someone to see their FOID if they didn't want to hold a firearm.  I will hold my tounge next time. However their is no attitude on my part I was just informing my fellow member that his story seemed to be false.  Someone lies to me about a story and I call "spade" and I am the one with an attitude.  Go to any gun shop and when you ask to hold a firearm and I think you will get the same response from every employee.  I have been in ther many times and have never seen or been asked to see my FOID if I was just looking accross the handgun case.  Just my 2 cents.  Was not an attempt to start any crap with anybody just seems kinda ironic.........

At least you guys on the SW side have a choice of chains - up in Lake county, we have BOS @ Gurnee Mills or GM up in Kenosha. Not bad for used stuff but the usual GM markup for new; and they have a deal to only transfer handguns to one FFL - Outdoorsman in Withrop Harbor - probably the most "markup" happy FFL around.

I was at Cabela's last week and an older employee was walking up and down the ammunition aisles asking to see FOID's from everyone in the aisles.  I was just browsing and had not touched a single box and was asked to produce mine.

Its more about the fact that you tried to call out a fellow member here with no proof.  Spend some more time in gunstores and this stuff becomes alot easier to believe.  Bottom line is, why would he make it up, and even more than that, why would you call him out with no proof?

This is IL, we gotta stick together.

See the section in Red.  were you with him when the event happened?  No, so in what way, shape, or form are you qualified to call him a Liar?

That would be the attitude mentioned.  Just because it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it's bullshit.  Now, if he had said that he was looking at a shotgun from across the pistol case and the salesman walked up and had a Hippo fly out of his butt, you could call Bullshit on him.  As mentioned above, spend some time in these stores, you'll see these kinds of things or even worse.

I fail to see a problem with someone asking to see your gun card even if you are not asking to see a firearm.

If nothing else it makes their job easier. They know that they are dealing with a legal possible gun customer & they can then pull down a firearm with out you asking to tempt you with. Then they can force it into your hands where you just might buy it.

This is an old sales technique we used at Maxon's. Peek at their FOID right off the bat and then force firearms into their hands.

Most people looking at guns most likely want to buy one.

I was at Cabella's when a hippo flew out of my butt. The old guy behind the counter demanded to see my HOID. When I said I didn't have one, they confiscated my hippo and threw me out.
