| Is there a legal limit to # of weapon's you can own without a FFL?- Guy at work thought 10 was max!hock.gif |
| Don't think so. I don't know the rules on this, but so long as the paper work is there you can have as many as you want. Only catch may be that you have to get a collectors permit or something if you go over a certain number. But I know a guy that has tons of guns (no idea on exact number) and he does not have an FFL. |

I don't believe that there is such a thing as a "collectors permit" nor do i believe that there is any kind of limit as to numbers of weapons for ownership. Cook county's ban on handguns / "assault weapons" not withstanding, yiu can own as many as you can afford. Of course, should you ever get arrested for anything and your collection discovered, you will be branded a nut by the media and your collection will be described as either a "cache" or an "arsenal". ![]() |
Remember... "Cache" is guns in cases, boxes or cosmoline. "Arsenal" is more than 5 ready to go. Ammunition may be included in either description. |
You are limited on ownership only by funds available to purchase firearms. He is probably referring to how many you can sell in a year by Federal statute without a FFL, but that is a gray area. You can't get 2 Feds to agree on the number. Buy all you want. |
If 5 is an "arsenal", I must be well on my way to equipping the Bulgarian Army! (No offense to any of you who happen to be Bulgarian -- I could have said "Polish" but it doesn't sound as good). -- I'm of Polish heritage myself, so no offense to the Poles, either. Ok, I'll shut up now.
