I looking at buying myself a Christmas present and I've had my eye on a XD-45. But just checking here to see what you guys know about them. Or maybe you know of something better for around the same price. I found some for right around $500. This will be my first semi-auto handgun other then my 22LR. -Jeremy |
It has just about the most natural grip size of any double stack 45 that I have tried. That includes a Glock 21, a HK SOCOM, a CZ97, and my trusty Para P14. |
Jeremy...I have one and before I shot it I sent it back to SA and had Heinie straight eight night sights put on, had the barrel refitted and had the trigger pull set at 4.0lbs. It is a great shooter. I've talked with other XD owners and they also have been quite satisfied. My wife and I each have a Glock 23 (.40 cal.). She is more accurate with the XD than the Glock. She says it feels better in her hands. I quite agree and I believe it points alot more naturally for both her and me. Happy shopping and I hope you have a blessed Christmas. ...By the way Springfield Armory's specialty shop was great to deal with and fast!! |

i have a xd9 5". this gun is just so natural for me to shoot. its my favorite by far. im only avoiding buying the xd45 cause i dont want to pay for more 45ammo. i put on a hogue slip on grip, made a nice improvement. overall high quality gun, way better then the glock in my opinion. had springfield made a 45 two years ago i would have bought that instead of the 9. edit - i am the most accurate with this handgun then with any other. probably cause i love the trigger so much and that i probably shoot it more then most. compared to glock, sig and hk all of which i have shot extensivly. the xd is my goto gun. |

interested in a .40 springfield J? I know a guy he sold a .40 compact last week was askin 400 my dad almost bought it then decided he wanted a glock 27 instead.( let the search for the 27 continue) told me he has the full size 40 too. call me if your interested and ill talk to him ill see him on Monday prob. |
I haven't held many double stack .45's, but like this poster said, it does feel very natural in the hand. Better than my USP. My preference is a single action trigger, therefore having the USP, but the XD is a very nice pistol. One of my friends bought one, a 5" model with mags and acces. NIB it was around $520 IIRC. He said it was shooting low for him, and we went out and shot, and sure enough he had a decent size group about 3-4" low at 10yds. I told him it was probably him and not the pistol, so we traded and he shot the USP and me w/ the XD. The first 3 rounds I've ever fired from an XD went into 1 hole (not a cloverleaf, one hole), with the 4th about 3/4" away from the others, all perfectly in the bullseye. I gave it back to him after that and told him it was him and not the XD! |
something is wrong then. i have shot 3 different xds. all 3 triggers where near identical. smooth and crisp break point, just a slightly different pull on each. one about 3lbs another about 3.5-4lbs. |
xd's are single action... and I love my xd40 service. Only only FTE in roughly 800 rds through it. Simple to clean too. |
