The FFL that I purchased my lowers through 3 years ago closed the business approximately 1 year later.  Would the paperwork for my lowers have been destroyed or would they get transferred to the gov?

I thought that dealers are only supposed to keep records for a year.  Trying to understand the paperwork trail.

If he gave up his FFL it would of been sent to BATF in Atlanta.

FFL's are required to keep 4473's for 10 years then they can be destroyed. The bound book is forever, unless it is destroyed in a fire or flood. Your records of the lowers is safely in the hands of the BATFE. The good news is unless they cleaned up their act the records are stored in a building similar to the one you see in Raiders of the Lost Ark. I remember watching a news story on it years ago where they lamented the fact that the place was a mess and they could not find anything!
