....obviously not very soon but you guys see any chance at all for us being allowed to have NFA goodies?  I could care less about auto's but such things as SBR's or Cans....seriously...if we can have FH's and 30 rounders why can't we have cans and sbr's like every other state that allows them?  I dunno I'm just pissed still about the election and wishing I lived in another state that would allow such items.

Because SBR's and cans are not FH's and 30 rounders. FH's and 30 rounders were cleared by the expiration of the National AWB. NFA items are specificly prohibited for private citizens (non SOT or LEO) in IL by other state code ( FOID act maybe).

Okay my next question is....If and when I become an LEO (which once I'm done w/ Grad School in December of '07 I will have hoped to have been hired somewhere)...can I get a can to use for personal use outside the department being that I'm LEO?

I believe you need to abide by all the same rules as us non-LEO

Best bet for cans, CIII, and SBR . . . move out of Illinois.

Not likely. Most are restricted to "duty related" weapons AFAIK. You might be able to take your "duty wepaon" to the range on your off time, but it's still a "Department Issue" weapon.
