I am now currently in Oklahoma City and there is a Harbor Freight here.  If some of you guys want to avoid the shipping charges and want some rather large/heavy items feel free to send me an email at [email protected] and I'll see what I can do.
I have my GMC Sierra Z71 with me so lots of cargo room!
I live just north of Decatur, IL. and will be returning home Aug. 24th.

I can hold until you can get by to pick it up.  (plenty of storage space 2 1/2 car garage) and I work at the Peoria Airport so I go up RT51 to I-74w to peoria M-F so it wouldnt be a problem to work out a delivery meeting.

Just trying to give a hand.....gotta repay for my squeezing of free gun info!

Thanks for the offer - I've only been to the Arlington Heights store and it's got a good selection of stuff.  Stinks that it's all made in China though

Bet we all wish we could afford all Snap-on or Matco tools.

Why on earth would you get a Snap-on press when you can get a Harbor Freight 12ton press for $79.99?  So it's not delivered to you by a guy in a big white box truck, so what!

The Harbor Freight stuff is so-so quality-wise.  I guess the big benefit would be keeping americans employed as opposed to supporting a repressive Chinese government that violates human rights, engages in slave labor, steals american jobs, yadda yadda yadda

I don't have any snap-on or Matco tools but if I'm buying tools (heck, buying most things) I look for stuff made in the USA.  Can't always do it but we should try.

Of course it becomes a catch-22 because as US wages stagnate, the average american can't afford to buy the quality US made stuff - so they shop at walmart (or target or wherever) instead of the locally owned stores and their money goes to the cheap mfg. overseas that end up ramping up their production and taking more good-paying US jobs which sapps US wages and on and on and on....

good times....

SO, the short answer is thanks so much for the kind offer of picking up some Harbor-Freight tools for the IL crew - it is a really kind gesture and I apologize for the semi-off-topic rant about US vs. Chinese products & mfg.

Have a great weekend and stay cool!
Mike

Just curious--what's the advantage to getting it in OK when you're a few miles from the store everyday? Just a selection thing, or what?

Im here in Oklahoma City at the Federal Aviation Administration's  tech school so I figured if anyone wanted a heavy item such as the 12 ton press then I could pick it up for them and save them the shipping charges by bringing it back to IL. or to them depending where they live.

I really didnt post this to listen to a few snooty people that suggest they own nothing but snap-on, mac, or whateva.....  Or the buy u.s.a. pathetic arguement....

Bottom Line is....if you dont want me to pick something up.......then that will be fine....I for one don't really care to hear about why yo dont want anything from there.

Geez.....

How in the Hell would you know?? You've never got your hands dirty let alone ever touched a tool!!

Cheap tools have their place. For me, I don't bring my good stuff to work. With the type of work I do and the repairs I make most if which require just crecent wrenches, channel locks and hammers cheap tools are fine. If they get lost or grow legs and walk off  its not a big loss.
I let one of my guys use my tools and he uses a 13 inch crecent wrench for a hammer! He tears up more stuff than he fixes! But he's a good worker and shows up everyday.
Anyway, remauto, thanks for the offer. It was very thoughtful of you.
