...has been recommended to be adopted by the rules committee. by a vote of 3 to 2. There is an NRA alert out about HB 1098 and HB 2414 coming to the house floor tomorrow for a vote. 5 More notes were filed against HB 1098. ....does someone smell a bill passage in the house on this one? |
|
For those who don't know, HB 1098 is the .50 cal ban, and HB 2414 is the Semi Auto ban. Looks like A LOT of wheeling and dealing behind closed doors to get this bill to pass. You don't have a bill ammended 5 times and stay alive for any other reason that I know of.
|
| I have not received a call back from my rep on this bill yet but I just left another message for her. I am going to call back tomorrow after lunch if I have not heard from her by then. I hope it's not too late. I want to know why she became a sponsor on the bill last week. The way I figure it, she owes me an answer and I am determined to get it. As much as it might be a long shot, I'm hoping I can reason with her. It might seem futile but if I do nothing, nothing will change. If I at least try to do something, something might change. |
You show her Matt, and remind her that she serves you, not the other way around! Schmitz is my rep and from everything I know he is pretty much in our corner. But I sent him a letter (email, snailmail wouldn't make it in time) to let him know my stance and emphasized that this is Chicago politics encroaching on our fair town (he lives in the same town as me). Even if your rep isn't real pro gun, try to drive home that this stuff is about Chicago trying to get their way with the rest of the state! Well, hopefully these suckers will get shot down. It is definitely gonna be a nail biter, though. I wonder what the heck crawled up Aeivado's ass to make him constantly sponsor these types of bills. Its the gangbanger that makes the gun deadly, not the other way around. |
..uh double whammy! You are right about watering it down. Not sure it being about the down state legislators willingness to cave. Perhaps just enough Illinois wide to cave. |
I'm below I-70...down here. we seem to have our own republic concerning our 2 amendment rights.
|
I am just south of I 72 we like our guns here too. I wrote in Jack Ryan |
|
Cullerton was the instrument for the insertion of Aeivado into Daley's arse! |

Mr. [Dawg], Thank you for writing me. I do plan on opposing these two Bills should they reach the House Floor for a vote. Please let me know if you have any other questions or comments. Sincerely, Tim Schmitz 630/845-9590 [Dawg180] wrote: Dear Representative Schmitz, I am wiriting in regards to current pending Legistlation HB 1098, also known as the ".50 caliber ban" and HB 2414, also known as the "Semmiautomatic Weapon Ban." Please oppose both of these Bills. I am a strong beleiver in the Constitution and all of its ammendments, and it disturbs me to see that some Representatives think they have the authority to strip those rights away from others. More to the point there seems to be a recent and disturbing trend of Chicagoland representatives trying to dictate policy to the rest of the state. These two bills are part of the constant encroachment of City of Chicago politics on our town. Please vote against these two bills and show the representatives of Chicago that they do not have the right to try and dictate policy to the rest of the state. If you would like to discuss my position on these Bills further, please feel free to contact me. My address and phone number are below. Sincerely, [Dawg180] |
Almost all of the new co-sponsors are from Cook County (big surprise). Daley must be yanking their leash hard. Chicago already has an AWB, correct? |
I suspect that they will go back and try and remove language about the 50. It also shows that there is going to be a very close vote if this bill or any similiar too it hits the floor. |
| Does anyone have anymore info. on this bill, as I just called my rep. and the secretary said that it, (HB2414), came up for a vote today and lost, with my rep. voting against. Is this correct or was she misinformed, or just talking about an amendment to the bill? The IL website is always a bit behind with information. |
..the vote was against the # 5 amendment. The bill itself has not came up for third reading and voting. |
That's what I thought. I know my rep. will be against it, and I'm sure he will call back soon and listen to my thoughts on the matter, as he has in the past. |

Try this: On the democrat side: Voting yes... 45 Voting NO... 13 NV or P....... 3 20 democrats broke ranks and voted for the amendment and who had previously had a good voting record for pro-gun bills. On the republican side Voting yes...12 Voting No....45 NV or P....... 0 12 republicans broke ranks and voted for the amendment who had an excellant record of voting pro-gun bills in the past. |
It's those 12 republicans that concern me., especially with HB 1098 headed for a vote now. However now that there is a record of the vote on HB2414 # 5's amendment. I would expect that the powers to be, will work on these 12 to turn the vote around. Also come election time, those 12 will be sweating....profusely!!! Same on the democrat side of the table. |
| TPTB better get working fast. I can't believe its this close.I have two reps because of split district. Both secretaries implied people are raising hell over this. Mitchel called me back and said he is not voting for any of the bills, but thinks the votes will be close. |
As in Jerry? You must live purdy close to me then. WIZZO |
Nope, Mine is Bill Mitchell and Robert Flider Macon county |
Thanks for the list. My bastard Republican rep voted FOR the amendment. I voted for him twice so he's going to get a fucking earful from me. I want to write a letter but I think I had better write an E-mail first. I can't seem to find the E-mail for any of these reps... anybody got a link? |
List came to me last nite by the GOA.org So I don't know how accurate the list is. If you have windows XP, use the FAX program built in. E-mails I tend to think , get lost in the trash can at these Senators and Reps office during the session over heated bills. Thanks, couldn't find them on the site for some reason. I'll be sending an E-mail and a letter both identical to make my point. My rep (McAuliffe) has a mixed record on gun control; he's voted for some good bills and also for some bad ones. Hopefully I can make him see reason but if he votes for HB2414 he's my #1 political enemy next election. If anybody else lives in or near district 20 feel free to E-mail him ([email protected]). This is what I sent him: Mr McAuliffe, As a supporter of yours who voted for you in the past two elections, I was outraged so see an "aye" for an amendment to HB2414, a Richard Daley gun control bill that seeks to ban semi-automatic rifles. Why you are voting for Daley-sponsored bills (gun control or otherwise) makes no sense as we in the suburbs are especially sensitive to Chicago abusing their legislative power in the state. This is a prime example of that in action. I implore you to vote "nay" for any further amendments to HB2414 and to HB2414 itself if it reaches the floor. There is another bill - HB1098 - that seeks to ban .50 caliber rifles. As these rifles have never been used in a crime (they are extremely bulky and heavy) there is no valid reason to restrict their sales to civilians. This is simply another Daley gun control bill that I urge you to vote nay on. Thank you for your understanding and support, |

Timothy Schmitz's email on that list is "iffy" as he has a different one listed on his own website, and he responded to my message within 12 hours when I used it. Not saying the one listed above won't work, but that hsi other one seems to be a direct pipeline to him. And now I am confused. I thought this vote yesterday was for the ammendment, not for the HB2414 as a whole. But the newspaper articel reference in a nother thread suggests that it wasa vote for the whole Bill. Are we confused, or does the media not know what they are talking about (as usual) And someone explain to me why we seem to be the one sate getting STRICTER gun control forced on us while the rest of the damn nation is loosening up? Oh, right...Our soverign overlord Daley and his Kingdom of Chicago dictating to the "peasants" what is in our own best interests. |
They have no idea what they are talking about. It was Amendment 5 that got shot down by 1 vote. www.ilga.gov/legislation/billstatus.asp?DocNum=2414&GAID=8&GA=94&DocTypeID=HB&LegID=17433&SessionID=50 |
They was going to vote for the amendment, then turn around immediately in vote on the bill itself. |
So it really did get shot down? |
...only the amendment. Not the bill. The bill is still alive for this session. |
Am I correct in reading that these:
Were the only provisions that were being voted on yesterday? |
