I'm moving soon and the area I'm going to is within 20 miles of Howell Aurora and St. Charles gun clubs. Does anyone know about them and which one is best (especially for one with an EBR)? Any comments on them. Luckily, the move will also move me about 15-20 min closer to Buffalo Rock. Thanks Joe |
| We can't shoot centerfire rifle at Howell's - ditto for St. Charles. Aurora depends on who is ROing for the day - some of the old "sportsmen" don't care for the EBR's. You forgot Sycamore and Oak Park Sportsmans Club both of which are EBR friendly, the latter is moreso, but the rifle range is under construction right now so there isn't very much distance available to shoot at. |
Joe, Bring that thing out to the Buffalo brasshog RO Buffalo Range |

Patriot, I know you were out at the range when I was working before. If you are implying that I sit back and watch people doing things unsafely you are sadly mistaken. The Buffalo Range is one of if not the only public range in Illinois that allows rapid fire. If someone is out of control they are asked to leave no questions asked. |

WARNING Aurora has its own local Assault Weapon Ban, thanks to all the gang problems they have on the seedy side of town. If you live in Aurora, you have to leave your EBR's behind. Sycamore is the best place to shoot that I have found. I live real near St. Charles and can get there in about 30 minutes. You can hit the Kane County Gunshow in the morning and take any goodies to the range in the afternoon on a good weekend! Sycamore is EBR friendly, although I am usually the only guy shooting one, and possibly one or two other guys on a rare day. That being said, I have madea couple of friends there by letting people handle them and pop off a few rounds. That ought to give you a good idea of how much I like Sycamore. |
Oh well. . . . . . I fixed the AK today and

Just to clear things up, he is talking about Aurora the city, not the club. As to the RO's at Aurora not caring for EBR, I have never have had a RO say anything but nice rifle. The only thing you cant do is shoot with out aiming. ie bumpfire. Rapid fire is allowed (if it is aimed, acturate fire.) They just dont want people blasting up the target holders. Someone has to replace, and they dont want to do it all of the time. Also we are moving the club west to waterman, where our operation should be expanded. ITRC we are either getting a 600yd or a 1000yd rifle range. Remman |

They are located in Sugar Grove not Aurora. With plans to move west to Watermen away from subdivision and neighbors.... 600 yard range in on the drawing board not 1000. Please check out the club and look it over yourself. Trap ranges are open Tuesday & Friday night 6 - ? and Saturday 9-4. Trap is open to the public you can look around at this time even if your not a trap shooter. CMP clinics are also open to the public. They only take new members at the beginning of the year Feb, Mar, Apr I think..... This is my 3 rd year in and it's the best money I've spent. |
I'm not implying that, I just am opposed to "bump firing." I do however love rapid fire. |

Thanks for the reply's. I'm actually moving to Oswego, so I don't have to worry about the city of aurora awb. By the way, what is the rules of their AWB. I've seen AR's for sale at JR Shooting Sports in Aurora. I'll have to look at Sycamore and Aurora I guess. I've actually been to Buffalo Rock once (maybe twice). The first time was for a blastfest I think early 2004 or so. I didn't have my AR then (actually I'm waiting on the last 2 parts to be delivered) but had my Sig 225, Rem 870 and Rem 597. But I want to go to the next blast fest with a functioning AR. |
