CHICAGO COPS CHICKEN OUT, CANCEL RALLY AT CHUCK'S GUN SHOP

Looks like as word of the Feb 21 anti-gun rally at Chuck's Gun Shop
spread among gun owning patriots and it was clear gun owners were going to mass,
the cops realized their planned rally was going to turn into a three ring
circus and they were going to become the clown act. Wisely the police have
withdrawn from the battlefield. However the "special relationship" between
the Chicago PD and the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence (ICHV)
continues to poison efforts to bring common sense gun safety laws to
Chicago (passage of concealed carry).

The below letter says the cops are "now working with the Illinois
Council Against Handgun Violence to assist organizing youth throughout the city
to call attention to the devastation and destruction caused by gun
violence."

Are these kids so stoopid they don't know gun violence is a bad thing?
Teach them respect for guns and gun violence will drop like a rock. But that
isn't going to happen and the kids will go on dying.

Anyway, here's the letter of surrender from the City of Chicago:

               ************************************

               City of Chicago
               Richard M. Daley, Mayor

               CAPS Implementation Office
               DePaul Center
               Chicago, Illinois 60604

               February 2, 2004

               Dear Principal:

The Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy (CAPS) thanks you for your
continued support in our efforts to work with youth. Please be aware
               that
the Anti-Gun Youth Rally as part of our new Violence Reduction
               Initiative
               targeting youth, has been cancelled.

CAPS is now working with the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence
               to
assist organizing youth throughout the city to call attention to the
devastation and destruction caused by gun violence.

We still encourage you to empower your students to speak up and speak
               out
against violence. If you have any questions regarding this
               correspondence,
please do not hesitate to contact me at (312) 747-9976.

Thank you for your committment to empowering youth to help put an end
               to gun
               violence in our communities.

               Sincerely,

               Vance T. Henry

Excellent!  It looks like the phone calls and emails worked.  When I called the village, it sounded like the phone had been ringing off the hook for days!

Riverdale is only 15 minutes from my house and I visit Chuck's occassionally.

When I emailed the mayor of Riverdale, she responded that she was "just as  outraged" as I was and no one in chicago even contacted Riverdale about this stunt.

It's great to win one, especially in my own front yard.

good job CK. it still shocks me that cops out there think guns hurt people.  but then again it seems as if the chicago cops are just a political front.  imagine that.

btw, I'm LEO and support gun ownership by law abiding citizens, except the ridiculous laws like NFA and AW ban.

stay safe

Tango,

My grandfather  was a Chicago Cop many years ago. If he was still alive I have no doubt he's be just as pissed off as we are.

I knew another retired CPD officers who recently passed away. He loved it every time we pro-gunners pissed off Daley. He was "old school" and didn't bust honest folks for carrying (unless they were doing something wrong with the gun, of course).

I imagine there are still CPD progunners, too.  But it seems as if there are more willing to stand with the cronies just to look good.  I know I'll be able to go through life never having pimped myself to somebody just to think it might make me look good or some other BS.

At work a few weeks ago we had a homeowner charge out of his house and hold a peeping tom at gunpoint.  HIs neighbor stayed on the phone with 911 until we got there and gave us a description of the homeowner.  when the home owner saw lights enter his street, he dropped the mag, ejected the chambered round, set everything on the ground, and put his hands up.

we could tell he was cool and calm, so we scooped up the gun and arrested the pervert who was jacking off on his wife's bedroom window.

The whole shift thought everything was cool.  The homeowner did everything right in our book.  As soon as the window peeper was secured, the guy produced his FOID.  I hated to run it, cause I knew he should be fine.  He understood and wanted to be totally helpful.  We told him what a good job he and his neighbor did.  While I got his statement and gave him his peice back, he asked if he'd be in trouble.  i told him heck no.  he acted responsibly throughout the whole incident.  i told him , I only care about guns if they are pointed at me, stolen, or used illegally (violently).

My Sgt and I talked later.  We're on the same page.  He's a big hunter/NWTF type.  He felt bad for picking up the guys gun and essentially disarming him while we handled the thing.  He said he didn't fell so bad that he would walk past a gun, but none the less felt bad.

I'm very lucky to have responsible citizens where I work.  I thank them every chance I get.
