Glad to see that you and Glenn drew tags, CS.
And all the other lucky winners here in the NVHTF. |

Looks like there are left over tags for the second draw for antlered mule deer archery in 101-109. Debating if I wanna sweat my halls off and throw sticks at a deer. As long as I don't fall into a cactus like my last hunt in 101-109 it couldn't be that bad. Right?

All Alphas, Ironsides, and I will be hunting mulies and cow elk in the Rubies this fall.

Hi all , so in anticipation of having to move to vegas in a
Few years , I'm starting to build up my Nevada points - I pretty Much put in for points for all the big game species this year. Though I love Colorado , the wife has family there and wants to Go there down the road. I still plan on driving back to my honey holes in Colorado for elk season How hard is it to get a cow vs a bull tag ? From what I gather A bull can take years to get , right ? How about deer ? Thanks in advance |

Drew 32/34 antelope tag this year. Never hunted speed goats before so really excited.
Country up there looks nice. Shot a buck in 183 last year; it was rough country. Hoping my lope units are a little easier to access and hike into... |

Anyone else notice some credit card activity from ndow today? Got home from work today and the wife says what's this charge for $120 from ndow? I thought you already paid for your tags. Called ndow and found out I was drawn for muzzleloader bull elk tag as an alternate hunt. Freaking sweet!

Someone turned in that tag, and you were the next on the list to check the opt in box when you applied. What area? Congrats!

Got my antelope in 075 today https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/79922/FE6AF93C-4466-476B-92CE-E1E9846857CA-291474.JPG View Quote Was hoping for a group doe antelope this year but no dice. Just became eligible again too for horns longer than ears this year. Don't know if I'd go with the .223 for Antelope. Seems like most of my shots have been fairly long. With the exception of a 100 yard shot a few years ago, my other antelope shots have been 375 (rangefinder) and 400-425 yards (estimated would have to get the GPS out to recall). Of course my deer shots haven't been much better. 300 yards on one broadside and 550 yards on one quartering and walking away (missed it when it was 50 yards and running broadside shooting standing) both of those ranges via rangefinder. Cow elk have been within a couple hundred yards. Everything shot with a .30-06 (git 'er done) w/ 165gr Nosler partitions. With the exception of the 550 yard deer all shots were complete pass through. On the 550 deer it was lodged under the hide on the front right of the chest. |

View Quote We were driving back to town and had to stop the truck because this one was in the road. Watched him walk off a bit, then decided he was the one. Was hoping to test how well the 178 ELD-X did at distance, but it did good at 37 yards For hunting with .223, my wife took her doe with a hand loaded 65 gr Sierra Game King. Out of my 18" barrel it's moving at 3,132 feet per second. She center punched it absolutely perfect in the heart, it ran 20 yards and went down. My dad has used a .22-250 with great success on everything he has drawn tags on in the state. Usually we use 7mm Rem Mag, but I had to do it with my MR this year. I will say it is one rifle I do not want to hike the Rubies with for damn sure. |

It's doable, and I've done it. But, you have to be really selective with your shots. The last doe I shot with .223 (Federal Fusion 62 grain) was hit broadside at about 150 yards - perfect heart shot. And she didn't take a single step. Just tipped over in place like the lights went out. Almost cartoonish the way she fell over and the feet went up. But I understand what you're saying. My shot this year was closer to 300 yards and quartering away - that is no place for .223 and I was glad I brought a .243 View Quote |
