How long ago was the fire and does anyone know about how many acres burned? I hadn't been over there in months until last week and was surprised when I saw that it had burned. We were out of the area for part of July and August
but I'm still surprised I didn't here about it. When we got home my wife bought all the back issues of the local paper and I didn't see anything about it and couldn't find it on the National Interagency Fire Center website. |

Thanks for the info. It's been years since I wandered around up in the Desatoyas.
Back when the old Cold Springs station was still there an old guy was burning trash and it got into the brush. I was going by and stopped, got out my shovel and helped fight it. The DOT had a front end loader working the fire and eventually the BLM showed up and a plane and chopper were brought in to help. The pilot of that plane made a few trial passes and then came in and slipped it down the ridge and dumped the retardant. A truly impressive bit of flying. |
