The Nevada Highway Patrol popped me near the 15/215 interchange for speeding.  The cop was pretty cool and issued a ticket for just 10 miles over.

I'd like to fight the citation anyway and see if I can get it dismissed.  Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
In some cities the department REQUIRES their officers to attend traffic court hearings.  What's it like here in NV?  Will NHP show up in traffic court?

....or should I just hand the entire thing over to one of those sleezy traffic court attorneys I see the billboards for all over town?

Any other tips for fighting traffic tickets here in NV are appreciated.

Overtime is paid for court. They will most likely show

Dismissed? Yep, not likely to happen. Look at some of the lawyers that handle tickets. Pay the fine, pay the attorney, and reduced to a parking ticket.

I understand that Craig P. Kenny is still doing them for free.  My Pre-Paid Legal program uses Dempsey, Roberts & Smith to handle the tickets.  Usually dropped to a parking ticket with no points, no driving school and about 1/2 the fee of the original ticket.

No, he charges $50 but it's well worth it.  No points, no driving school.

Thanks!  I'm in contact with Craig Kenny's firm right now and will let them handle this for me.

Thank you for your help and recommendations!

FYI, you can get a first speeding ticket (in a certain period of time) reduced to parking without the help of a lawyer in justice court now.

And although I try not to take on too many, I'll gladly cover speeding tickets fro Arfcom people for $20 here in Vegas.  I don't make a dime on that, but it at least covers my gas a a few minutes of my time.

That's very generous of you!  I would have taken you up on your offer, but I've already contacted C. Kenny's office.
Maybe the good karma can pass on to the next ARFCOMM'er with a lead foot.

No prob at all.  Like I said, I don't benefit from handling them, but offer it as a courtesy to other NV Arfcommers.

Just pay your speeding tax and move on.

Without admitting guilt - let's just say my car has a 6.3L V8 and generates close to 500hp.
I may or may not have been aware of the speed I achieved while passing a slower moving vehicle.
....that is all.

So wait, you get cut a break, yet you still want to fight the citation? I hope you get full-boated next time you get stopped for intentionally exceeding the speed limit.

Hey, I did wrong, I know I did wrong, but I want to get it dismissed anyway. What a fantastic attitude.

Whatever happened to owning up to something, taking your licks, and moving on.
