Hello, my name is Dillon. I am 19 years old and I want to get into hunting. I am looking for someone with experience and lives near Reno that doesn't mind teaching a noob. I live in Near near the Peppermill and I want to get my first coyote I don't have my hunting license yet but I plan to get it soon, so for the mean time i'm sticking to the unprotected species list. If anyone has some advice and what to look for and tips that would be apprenticed! and even better if you would be willing to take me out with you

In order to get the license you will have to go through a Hunter's Education course, or show proof that you have been through one. Why not start by taking the class? http://www.ndow.org/Education/Classes/Hunter_Education/

Yeah, I will be getting my license soon. I'm mostly just looking for some company and knowledge, I just moved out here from San Diego 3 months ago so i'm not only new to hunting but Nevada too. I have an Ar15 just iron sights but I will get a EO Tech for X-mas so maybe after christmas I could meet up and try out my new system ?

Welcome to Nevada and welcome to the forum! Myself and other members would be happy to help you if you were down here in the south. Considering that you are up north I'm sure you will find several offers to help you out. They are a great bunch of guys (and girls) up there and they are solid people. -Joe |

Before you go afield with me I would like you to get your Hunter Safety done, then I'll go out with you and whack some coyotes. Welcome to ArfCom and especially welcome to the NV HTF...we have a lot of great resources here in general. In particular, since you are up here, you will find that the Northies are a solid bunch of guys, we're a pretty tight crowd and do a lot stuff together 'off forum'. Keep The High Ground, G ETA...I shoot, A LOT, as most of the guys up here will tell you. I plan on doing some sighting in and barrel break-in next Saturday. Get ahold of me and we can get together and do some shooting. |

(b) Big game mammals in any manner other than with a rifle, held in the hand, that exerts at least 1,000 foot-pounds of energy at 100 yards, or with a longbow and arrow which meet the specifications established by Commission regulation. (c) Small game mammals in any manner other than with a handgun, shotgun, rifle, longbow and arrow or by means of falconry. (d) Game birds with any rifle or handgun, or in any manner other than with a shotgun held in the hand, with a longbow and arrow or by means of falconry. (e) Migratory game birds with any shotgun capable of holding more than three shells. (f) Any game bird or game mammal with the aid of any artificial light. (g) Any big game mammal, except mountain lions, with a dog of any breed. 2. Nothing in this section prohibits the use of dogs in the hunting of game birds or small game mammals. |
