Emailed out at 12:09 today as a press release. It looks like Sheriff Haley's signature on the "sheriffs who support the 2nd" was a little premature.
Washoe County Sheriff's Office For Immediate Release << Press Release list PR #: 1300038 Date Issued: Mar 27, 2013 - 12:07pm Call on Congress to end gun violence as part of National Day to Demand Action WHEN: Thursday, March 28, 2013 CONTACT: Sheriff Michael Haley 911 Parr Blvd Reno, NV 89512 (775) 328-3010 More than 100 Events Taking Place Across the Country Today as Part of Largest Field Campaign in U.S. History to Address Gun Violence Organized by Mayors Against Illegal Guns www.DemandAction.org/March28 Mike Haley, Sheriff Washoe County, Nevada, is a supporter of Mayors Against Illegal Guns and supports todays National Day to Demand Action to bring awareness of the need to responsibly address and bring an end to gun violence. While members of Congress are home during the Easter/Passover recess, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, in conjunction with Organizing for Action, Americans for Responsible Solutions and other groups supporting background checks, organized more than 100 events and petition drives and generated an unprecedented number of calls into Senate district offices to call for their representatives to support commonsense gun laws like comprehensive and enforceable background checks. “Many Nevadan’s have lived through the consequences of gun violence. And, as a supporter of Mayors Against Illegal Gun, it is my hope that the national awareness to address gun violence will be raised and meaningful policy will emerge,” said Sheriff Haley. The National Day to Demand Action brought together hundreds of mayors, law enforcement officials, faith leaders, gun violence survivors and family members, and other Americans who want Congress to take immediate action to strengthen our background check system and reduce gun violence. The day is expected to be the largest gun violence advocacy event in history and is part of the largest field campaign in U.S. history to address gun violence. The coalition recently announced that it is hiring organizers and opening campaign offices in ten key states including Nevada. In addition to the National Day to Demand Action, the bipartisan coalition is also airing ads demanding that political leaders take action to pass commonsense gun reforms in key states during the upcoming Congressional recess, including in Nevada. Ads can be found here: www.demandaction.org/recessads About Mayors Against Illegal Guns Since its inception in April 2006, Mayors Against Illegal Guns has grown from 15 mayors to more than 900 mayors from across the country. We have more than 1.4 million grassroots supporters, making us the largest gun violence prevention advocacy organization in the country. The bipartisan coalition, co-chaired by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino, has united the nation’s mayors around these common goals: protecting their communities by holding gun offenders and irresponsible gun dealers accountable; demanding access to trace data that is critical to law enforcement efforts to combat illegal gun trafficking; and working with legislators to fix gaps, weaknesses and loopholes in the law that make it far too easy for criminals and other prohibited purchasers to get guns. Sheriff Haley has been and will continue to be the exception to the rule in Northern NV.
He is clearly not the representation of his constituents, clearly a politician in the purest sense and an example of ALL that is wrong in modern-day law enforcement. He has made it abundantly clear that he does not trust us "civilians" with modern rifles and that only military and L.E. should ever own/possess/utilize these types of rifles. Sadly, he is not in alliance with many in L.E. who want to partner with private citizens. The good news is that he is an elected official and his day at the ballot box will come. Remember this event, and all previous others, when that day arrives. This is is a wake up call that the CLEO of Washoe County does not trust you and has forsaken his Constitutional Oath. Nice job, Mike...way to throw us under the bus! Keep The High Ground, G |

Carson's Furlong was welcomed with open arms to the goat fuck that The Tick hosted and has said some shit like "this is going to continue until laws get passed."Sheriff Haley has been and will continue to be the exception to the rule in Northern NV. Holy Shit, gunmonkey...don't get me started on Furlong. I have had some interaction in the past with WCSO and I can tell you that A LOT of Haley's deputies vehemently disagree with his 2A stance. Have had interaction with RPD and SPD and they are not in the same boat as Haley and Furlong. You do have a point, my friend, and we as responsible citizens must keep a close watch on what our officials are doing and who they are supporting. G |

These 'tards tend to get elected and reelected without any opposition.
Time to make them EARN it, lets see some public stance beyond "Reelect ME!". The only way to pry that out of them is for there to be more than one candidate. Looks like it's up to ARFCOM to start making these races competitive. |

If enough people do not stand up Nevada could very well follow Colorado's lead in the gun control push. I write all Nevada legislators and our 2 state senators on a weekly basis. One week Monday next week Thursday. Writing did very little for us in CO. Going to have to vote them out. Get the word out and make sure you have plenty of voters. The moonbats in CO are out of control. You should read the shit they say. Idaho is looking nice now. I wish the western states would quit voting Dems as governors. Montana's gov just vetoed the suppressor hunting bill that passed the house. What a piece of shit. |
